Not in a good way, either.

Geez, ya gotta make them earn it.
Yeah they got a bunch of seeing eye hits, but none of them would have mattered without all the free passes and it's not like this is a good lineup right now.

Well, at least we can say it's been a while since we had to go thru a game like this.

I had forgotten there was going to be actual losing at some point this season.

Why the fuck do you go to Ramos there?

Gave Familia no safety net. For a guy who said he wasn’t going to save anyone for the ninth, this was some shitty bullpen management.

bench him tomorrow. that was an absurd baserunning mistake, no excuse. i dont care if the ball bounced 30 feet away, it better be in the fucking stands for you to try and advance there

Nice double giving the team some life, followed up by pointless, boneheaded baserunning, killing any potential rally.

He's had a couple of those this season.

You hope this isn't one of those games where later you say, 'boy, the season turned right there'. Because if the bullpen starts breaking down along with starters that can't get through 6 innings, there's Trouble in River City.

Hopefully they shake it off and go get 'em tonight.

with a two run lead, two outs, and a sinkerball pitcher, why did Callaway choose to weaken his infield defense instead of using one of his two available starting outfielders in the double switch?

This was very much a case of the Mets beating the Mets while the Nats stood there.

It's not like the 2018 Mets haven't benefited from that scenario as well.

Right. One game isn't a big deal in the course of a season. It's what happens afterwards. The bases loaded escape by deGrom was a big deal for that game, but it became more important because the Mets went on to sweep. Win the next two and it will be ok.

It's just that the pitching matchups aren't in our favor as much as it was yesterday.

Ever since I was kid, the Mets will lose a game in April that makes me lose my mind, then remind myself that it's just a game, and that it's a long season and that I should chill the fuck out. Yesterday was that game. Usually it comes much earlier.

Roger Angell takes the piss on this dreadful shitshow of a Mets loss to the Nats last week. Manchester and Southhampton references, for all you British soccerball fans.

I'd like to pee in all four corners of the NY Post Sports Department, no matter that Angell doesn't write for them.
And then their editorial room.
