Sherman with a bit of a hit piece: https://nypost.com/2023/10/01/david-stearns-buck-showalter-hit-job-made-for-awkward-first-mets-move/https://nypost.com/2023/10/01/david-stearns-buck-showalter-hit-job-made-for-awkward-first-mets-move/ I didn't realize Bob Melvin is expected to be fired in San Diego. Cohen saying it's all about giving his new PBO the opportunity to pick his own guy.

Buck probably doesn't WANT to come back after this...

Reyes NOT making a case to be here next year.

It's Frank Thomas, per the booth.

Mauricio really looking good out there.

    Nice play by Butto!

Just watched his short announcement. Sounds like a firing and necessarily his decision. He seemed emotional, "If I talk any more, it's not going to be good." I have to wonder if Eppler is next.

This is sad. I was skeptical of Buck at first, but thought he did a great job. This year's issues are not on him.

An order that has Lindor, Pete, Juan Soto and Alvarez is going to score some runs. It would probably mean they would be out on Ohtani, but that might be OK.

I used Jim Bouton, too. I took a gamble that Pilots would count as Brewers.

That leaves Juan Soto as the one most likely to bring back a reasonable haul, and Passan says the Mets are a likely suitor. Would you be willing to part with some of our prospect capital to bring Soto to Citi and hope to sign him long-term?

That's fascinating! Did every member of the grounds crew get that $14,950, or was that divided among all of them?

Those names make plenty of sense anyway. We've been speculating here on McNeil too and all the golf he (allegedly by me) won't stop playing.

I voted to bring Buck back.

I really enjoy listening to National League Town. Great job, guys!

Kind of refutes the claims that Pete is a clubhouse cancer!

Vientos seems to be turning a corner.

    Books!

Vientos seems to be doing better lately, and drives in the first run. I saw the Mets play the Marlins early in the season -- Senga's first game. If you had told me that day that the Marlins would be fighting for a playoff spot and the Mets fighting to avoid being in last place, I would never have believed it. Nice park, though. Not as fun as it used to be. But still nice.

Max has a forearm strain and will miss the rest of the season and postseason. Feel bad for the Rangers.

I only saw Sandlot recently, and thought it was fun. I actually kinda liked Mannequin back in the day. But Goonies, can't say I ever liked it. I put Breakfast Club in that category, too. It came out when I was in college, and our girlfriends loved it and my roomie and I thought it was too touchy feely.

    Alvarez says “I got this.”
