1. I think they play in the back fields rather than in the stadium. I'm not sure fans can even go to the games, or, if they did, whether there is an admission charge.
2. I've followed the Twins since having a wonderful time at Target Field. I've followed the White Sox since the Seaver years -- and some nice experiences at Comiskey. And I keep tabs on the Tigers because I have the high-A team in my backyard.
3. I think leftfield works out best if Baty gets his game back together and stakes a claim on third base. The good part about McNeil in the field is that he can plug in at multiple positions if needed. I guess a factor is if they want to go after a position player as a free agent, as they don't have too many holes assuming the stars stay put. Hopefully they are focusing on pitching instead!
4. Seems to me that if he is going to tarnish someone's reputation -- and calling a very popular, star player a clubhouse cancer is definitely tarnishing his reputation -- he needs to source it a little better. It's also the first I'm seeing Pete being described that way. If anything, we've heard the opposite over the last five years. So I suspect most readers, like the ones here, will question the commenter rather than Pete. If it is true, then get someone on record saying so, preferably a current or former teammate.
5. Terrible. The walk was not unexpected. The balk was just not knowing the rules. Unacceptable.
6. Road House a silly movie, but Jeff Healy Band's cover of “When the Night Starts Falling From the Sky” is great!
7. Edgy MD wrote: Rough. Rough to watch Michael Peréz get a call to be third string catcher while you're waiting by the phone. Good call. What was the deal there? Was it a 40-man-roster issue?
8. I saw the game in Detroit where he gave up back-to-back homers in the first inning -- Javy Baez and Riley Greene -- then shut them down. Of course, the Mets never got going and lost 2-0.
9. That would be a total tear-down. How do you go from 101 wins to a tear-down? Seems like it would be a tough sell to David Stearns, too. Maybe they should wait for him to (possibly) come on board before blowing up the team.
10. I think the other trades says they don't think they have a shot this year. I think a Verlander trade tells us they don't think they have a shot next year, either.
11. I understand the benefit to trading the guys who will be free agents at the end of the year. I kinda get trading Scherzer if it frees up money to get Nola, Snell or any of the younger starters who will be free next year, and you get a decent prospect. I don't understand the talk about trading Verlander, an ace who is under contract for next season. If the team is truly retooling and looks to contend next year, and starting pitching is at a premium, what is the benefit in moving him? What am I missing?
12. ⚾️ Immaculate Grid 120 9/9: Rarity: 149 IMMACULATE! 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.comhttps://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref Trying to figure out the rarity score. Is the goal to get the most obscure players?
13. Martino tweeted "Mets news incoming" and I see Pham is not in the lineup today. Cahna and Verlander are, though.
14. Martino saying Acuna and are paying $22.5 million. No Leiter. Martino is correcting his Tweet. Correction: Texas is paying Scherzer $22.5 MM. Mets are paying it down to that level. My mistake for typing it backwards.
15. =metirish post_id=133091 time=1690563628 user_id=72] Right? I wonder if their drive from one complex to the other was short or long
16. Robertson was our best trading chip. This return seems underwhelming.

18. This is a better game than usual! Alvarez!!
19. I confess I did not have confidence in Luis after the two bad bunts. Glad he proved me wrong!
20. YES!!!!! That was a great game!!!
