    Go, Brewers! I lean National League the vast majority of the time. Last year was an exception - Go, Jays! Milwaukee is about a five-hour drive from here and it's a nice city. I like going to Brewers games. It's a good park.

    This is spot on. It takes time to build something from the bottom up. I don't understand the thinking that this should all happen overnight. This year was awful with some bad decisions, but also bad luck. They're building a foundation for success. I would not be surprised at all to see a strong bounce-back in 2027, especially if they sign Skubal.

    I suspect McNeil's personality and inability to get along with Lindor and perhaps others played a role in his departure. Semien's been worse than expected, but I really believe the main goal was to get out from under Nimmo's longer contract and free up space for Benge. Nimmo has been in decline and wasn't going to get better while clogging up an outfield spot. They took on a shorter bad contract to get someone to take Nimmo's. They were probably giddy someone said yes. I'm not saying the trade was great. But there were probably other goals that aren't measured in the statistics.

    But he achieved that after they traded the best arms in the bullpen, two starters, and a solid fourth outfielder.

    3. Giving the job to Carson Benge. 4. Calling up AJ Ewing and letting him play. 5. Inserting Christian Scott into the rotation and sticking with him. 6. Inserting Zac Thornton into the rotation and sticking with him. 7. Signing Luis Torrens to a two-year extension. 8. Selecting Andy Green as the interim manager. 9. Letting Bichette play third and improve there throughout the season. 10. Finding a role for Senga as a high-leverage reliever.

    You are correct. Certainly the faith in Benge and Ewing was well-placed. Christian Scott and Zac Thornton stepped up. McLean looks like the real thing. The extension to Luis Torrens.

    Stearns was hailed as a boy genius because of his demonstrated track record of success in a much smaller market. I don't get the hatred. People are making it seem like Pete was run out of town and traded like Tom Seaver, who was cast out by a spiteful front office. Pete left because one team offered him a contract that no one else even came close to offering. More power to him. He did turn down a 7-year, $158 million offer from the Mets in a prior year. I totally get that moves completely backfired. It was a godawful shitty season where everything that could go wrong went wrong. Hopefully this is more like 1983 and it goes better from here. If he thinks added more "voices" to help, go for it.

    When I was at that White Sox game that was tied in the ninth, and the Mets had the go-ahead runs on base, Alvarez came up and I said to myself that he was going to be swinging wildly at three pitches outside the strike zone. I would have been happy to be wrong.
