  1. Ice got his playing time because of injury. The faceless "younger players" were never (as is usually the case) given names. Ice was the best candidate as an emergency starter back when we still had a chance to make the playoffs. (Some would have you believe otherwise, but one game out of the wildcard in the last week in August counts as being in the playoff race.) I don't remember when Ice and Willie were together before this year, maybe I'm just forgetting. Not being critical of you, irish, I'm guessing you're just citing and not espousing reasons.
  2. Nope, not me. That photo predates my first dip in the crane pool. I have yet to attend a gathering but hope to next time there is one. I was wondering if you just couldn't remember who that was or if you actually did photoshop some random dude into the picture.
  3. HappyRecap wrote: Although with Willie at the helm, who knows what castoff he has worked with in the past that he would give a shot at Shea. Completely unfair to Willie, and not true. Other than Miggy Cairo (who is perfectly suited for the backup second baseman role he was originally brought in for), what player, that Willie has worked with, was given an opportunity that he didn't deserve?
  4. I see no reason why this team should touch Tom Gordon. I hope Omar agrees.
  5. Next to her is a guy who wan't really there but was photoshopped in later. Huh?
  6. Can we get a translation of the new Met toon? Are there English translations in cyberland?
  7. We're still Americanizing things in this day and age? Did Shinjo think that Americans couldn't deal with Shinjyo any more than we could deal with Kashiwada?
  8. From all the stories I've heard, Seaver is a prick. Not the same as being annoying I guess.
  9. My guess is: Because we could use a left handed guy with power...and a first baseman.
  10. Hot stove talk on M&MD. BJ Ryan does not want to be a setup guy and is not in love with coming to the Yankees.
  11. I'd take him for that much, but it's not worth a bidding war when there are other options.
  12. Oops, no what I meant was, does anyone have a picture of the Bordick sign? _____________________________ This post had the designation 122) Frank Thomas
  13. Welcome a-bordick?

  15. metirish wrote: Diaz is on the up I hope so, too. ]Giles is on the way down Then it should be cheap to pick him up in a trade and bat him leadoff.
  16. Of course we'll be the ones smelling a playoff spot this year. *pumping fist*
  17. Now, now, none of that. BA/OBP/SLG/OPS Giles (career) -- .299/.413/.542/.955 Giles (last year) -- .301/.423 (3rd NL)/.483/.906 Diaz (career - 104 g) -- .263/.328/.477/.805 Not to mention atrocious defense. I love blue and orange prospects as much as the next guy, but to mention Diaz in the same breath (or to put him above!!) a guy with a ten year career of a .955 OPS is silly. Of course, the problem is age.
  18. Gotta love random, incomprehensible Top Ten lists.
  19. The food or the person holding it?
  20. ]Sure does look tasty, you have Floyd going to Boston for Manny in the first team? Just random guesswork. I hate posting imaginary lineups because the offseason never plays out exactly the way you hope. I may as well just stick Pujols and Tejada in there if I'm going to dream.
  21. Dammit I hate it when I think this way but: Reyes, SS Beltran, CF Wright, 3B Manny, LF Delgado, 1B Jacobs, C Diaz, RF Matsui, 2B Martinez, P or Reyes, SS Beltran, CF Wright, 3B Delgado, 1B Floyd, LF Jacobs, C Diaz, RF Matsui, 2B Martinez, P looks tasty.
  22. sharpie wrote: I'd go for Nady/Petit for Delgado in a heartbeat. So effectively we're trading Cameron and Petit for Delgado. I like.
  23. ]Along with Cameron, SD has agreed to take on all of Cameron's salary, a lofty $7 million for 2006. I always thought that taking responsibility for a player's salary in a trade was the rule, not the exception.
  24. Centerfield wrote: (who's 49?) I think it's 44.
  25. If we turn around and use Nady to get Delgado, suddenly I like the Cameron for Nady trade a lot more.
