  1. Actually those are all halfway decent arguments.
  2. The Mets could've picked Manny up two years ago off unconditional waivers and not given up players! And gotten two more of his peak years!! But they were too cheap to do it at the time and too stupid to realize they should get him as young as possible!!! Manny's going to pull a Sammy Sosa. Wagner? Another aging veteran past his prime with a well known name. Wilpon's old trick to keep the stands full. All they had to do was roll up their sleeves and offer a little more money and they could've gotten a younger guy who is just as good and will only improve. Another example of both stupidity and tight pursestrings. How does it feel to get beaten out by a franchise that is a punching bag for my beloved Red Sox? Haha, nice job getting Delgado for the same money as they could've gotten him for last year without giving up a rookie who had one of the best first two months in history. How'd that Beltran deal work out? [curiously neglects commenting on Pedro]
  3. The Mets have been piling up free agents and superstars for two winters now: Pedro, Beltran, Delgado, Wagner, Redman. There is still talk of adding Soriano or Manny into the mix. How do you feel? Are we doing what everyone despises about the Yankees? At least the Mets are spending their money on good players and leaving the Randy Johnsons and Carl Pavanos alone. What about the homegrown aspect of everything? Do you just root for laundry? Will you root for anyone who wears the blue and orange (minus Asshead and a select few)?
  4. It wasn't me, I swear.
  5. Snizzake

Excellent. Well said.
  7. Yo Healey...read those two articles and you'll see those poor journalistic practices that you don't believe exist. Both take Delgado's comment that the war is "the stupidest war ever" and make it seem that that was the reason he didn't stand for "God Bless America". At least the first article Edgy linked to mentions the real reason why he didn't stand for the song, but it's in passing. They both say it's protesting the war in Iraq that is the reason why he didn't stand. I may get off my lazy ass and write a note to these peeps. Can't do it during the day, but later maybe.
  8. ]A Met day that may well long be talked about, one way or another. "This will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of Mientikiewicz, and will soon see the end of our bullpen woes." I like movie quote parodies better because I don't have much ability with lyrics. Not that the above is anything special, but I'm tired and ready for bed.
  9. I was only kidding. I'm sure that people have called him an asshole long before any of us were born and will continue to long after we are dust. And by "him", I'm referring to a certain bat throwing juicehead psycho pitcher.
  10. Would someone write to Wally Matthews and explain that Delgado's decision not to stand was not about the war? OE: Changed "right" to "write". This is why I shouldn't [u:d0201e0897]write[/u:d0201e0897] said letter myself.
  11. Maybe I should add "Creator of Asshead" to my sig line.
  12. ]Billy Wagner. Kurt Wagner is the given name of Nightcrawler in X-Men. I'll leave that one alone.
  13. I appreciate Bert's performance last year. Let's leave him alone and let lightning strike him for the second time somewhere else.
  14. Who the hell is nightcrawler?
  15. After the Vladimir dealings, I would've classified it as "new ownership". Perhaps a better explanation is "new tv network."
  16. ="Edgy DC"]Copulate the rest of the bullpen. Let's go to war. Ditto.
  17. That's a very hot stove.
  18. ]a four-year deal worth $43 million. The deal includes a fifth-year option for the Mets worth $10 million, but if they decline, Wagner gets a $3 million buyout which is considered part of the original $43 million deal. This translates in my brain to 4 years for 40 million, with a fifth year option for 10 million that must be bought out for 3 million if declined. That right?
  19. I like it. I'm down with Wagner. He's a midget that throws gas. I was told he was the best we could hope for out of Kazmir.
  20. YES! You guys are the best. Get Omar and Willie on board.
  21. I was going from the initial post, which doesn't ask who is the most beloved Met, but who is your most beloved Met. ]Who are your most beloved Mets of all time? Who would you tell stories of, and add to Mets legend? Who is a true Met in your eyes?

  23. 5 DL spots = too many. 2 max.
  24. I think the idea of a player being a choker in the playoffs was created (and is only given any credence) on the radio, on the internet, and in Steinbrenner's office (Mr. May, indeed).
