1. Yankees will play anywhere if you pay them enough.
2. I'm still not thrilled with him, but I admit I don't really have the tools to evaluate a hitting coach.
3. Wait until you see what they rename the Syracuse team.
4. I mean, I don't love the design but they should do more of this.

Darren's been using "I didn't hear no bell" so probably not.
6. =Fman99 post_id=17915 time=1565143522 user_id=86] Don't underestimate MLB correcting the super juiced pre-ASG break ball with one that allows for a better slider to be thrown. Not by Diaz, of course, who's a head case, but Thor at least.

9. This is the counter to the 'i give up day' thread. Still one-under. They'll, presumably, struggle a bit again, so make hay when you can. Marlins and then two big division series. And don't rule out a Braves stumble. The Mets are technically only 9 losses behind and have 9 against them.
10. They DO get new balls at the break though, which is why 2015 second half was juiced whedre the first half wasn't. I haven't seen anyone state they're different yet though. It's really really, like REALLY easy to do. Rob Arthur can do it just by reading a few days worth of statcast data. It's that obvious.
11. Think the shoulder stuff is probably more related.
12. Sorry Dylan but the Mets win streak will not.
13. fwiw (almost nothing) Mets bullpen is 8th in ERA in July. Mostly by keeping the IP down it seems.
14. statcast numbers for uniformity

16. again, true. Like the Yankees can't call Brodie up this very minute and say "You know what, we gotta.."
17. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I would love to see them call a press conference this afternoon and announce a surprise Wheelie extension. Fuckin A', that'd be awesome. Imagine that. But that doesn't happen for us. I mean, you KNOW the Mets are using this conversation as a good gauge of interest in Wheeler, and what they value him at. Whether or not Wheeler himself thinks himself worth more if he can get some bidding going in the offseason is up to him.
18. Heyman IS a hack. I mean, look, "doesn't seem like" is hedging his bets, meaning he knows nothing concrete, but knows spewing opinions about this stuff everywhere is literally his job. Earlier everyone was crediting Sherman for cribbing news from Syndergaard's statements last night. There's been constant talk about Wheeler, the consensus seems to be that there are various teams interested and none have reached the threshold Van Wagenen wants to make it worthwhile. The exact count of teams, at this moment, considering still talking to the Mets is not really news. When one of them makes a decision to go for it, THEN it's interesting.
19. industry rumblings is code for "There's no truth to this besides something I heard someone say once"
20. =bmfc1 post_id=17146 time=1564577178 user_id=73] Rosenthal today in The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]There are industry rumblings that club officials view Syndergaard's makeup as an issue – they also talked about trading him last winter – and fear that Díaz cannot handle New York. If the two are not traded on Wednesday, the Mets can revisit talks during the offseason, when Syndergaard still will be under control for two more seasons and Díaz for three.[/bLOCKQUOTE] So sorry that Noah is not a robot but someone with some brains and opinions (e.g. the post-Spring Training trip to Syracuse). We'll see if Jeffy treats him the way he treats pregnant employees.
21. David Roth is a hack and just writes click-bait nonsense for Deadspin, completely unsourced or without an ounce of critical thinking.
22. I mean, that's what newspapers still exist for, so you can ignore stuff and they can recap it for you later. I typically hate all this projecting and teeth gnashing but there's a certain chaos to it that I enjoy watching. The EXTREME vitriol being spewed over what the Mets didn't do was entertaining most of the 2015 trade deadline, and even more so once the Cespedes news broke.
23. I mean, I wouldn't sell the horse for a closer but it's easy to draw a link from the Mets acquisition of Addison Reed for basically nothing to their two playoff appearances.
24. =Fman99 post_id=17028 time=1564489766 user_id=86] He's smiling a lot for a kid who seems to have Big Bird's dead corpse laying behind him in his backyard.
25. Maybe the Mets ARE trying to get back into it.
