  1. =Centerfield post_id=11461 time=1559159800 user_id=65] If you are a fan of this team, and pay attention to everything that goes on in and around the team, and you think ownership has nothing to do with the results on the field, then there is no point in trying to have a productive conversation with you. A little luck here and Noah's ability to settle down may well affect the result tonight. But luck can't be used to explain away that the Mets have had losing seasons in 9 of 11 years while the Dodgers have rattled off six straight division titles.
  2. yes, but he didn't have a reaction. And tweeting, as the author did in a similar vein, is just silly. It's in interesting piece about Beane's and Sandy's relationship and a nice update on a former Mets employee. Why can't it just be that without rehashing stuff from ten years ago? The Mets probably shouldn't have waited for Sandy to come back. They probably shouldn't have tried to have him devote much attention to them while getting healthy either. There's no indication Sandy's upset that he doesn't have a full time job running a baseball team?
  3. Fred Wilpon's an asshole, but that's not exactly news, or likely to change, or really matter. A former employee saying nothing about him isn't really noteworthy. Sure, it's like me having to panhandle, despite owning a 400k house. Or, you know, me having to 10 years ago. You can rant and rave about a loan 10 years ago and rich people always escaping their troubles all you want, but this is ostensibly a Mets forum and there's literally nothing in this non-quote to talk about except as an excuse to roll out your tired old tirades that mean literally nothing about whether or not Syndergaard is going to settle down tonight and have a little more luck than he has most of this season.
  4. Of course the Wilpons did all of that to Sandy. They didnt even want him in the first place. MLB foisted Sandy upon the Mets, an organization that moves billions with an "s" dollars in and out every year yet was once forced to borrow $25K from the league to keep its lights on. as many teams do, especially ones with frozen assets. There's no evidence that Sandy was foisted upon the Mets, that's just one of those dumb WFAN things people say. I'd love to hear real sources on that though. And then he stayed beyond that anyway, beyond the frozen assets, beyond the times the team was technically in the red. Why would that even make sense? MLB has a built in system for exploiting players to keep salaries low. They could've hired any number of 'draft guru' type guys. It makes no sense.
  5. I mean, plenty of people do come back and work for the Mets, so it can't be all bad. I wouldn't have expected an employee of another team to really delve into his former job? He also voluntarily came back a few times right? renewed his contract? I think he's been back one or twice in NY for events around the team since or am I mistaking that? Plenty of bad to say working for..well working for any big organization or rich person, but a drumming up a non-quote as negative is just clickbait.
  6. You think the Dodgers are getting out of the division round? Figured they'd get smoked by the Cubs.
  7. =ashie62 post_id=11043 time=1558741696 user_id=90] I have zero problem trading Noah when we fall out of contention Why is Mickey still here?
  8. =seawolf17 post_id=11008 time=1558717425 user_id=91] =Ceetar post_id=11003 time=1558708380 user_id=102] Didn't I do a similar query recently and found nothing? I was looking mostly at ERA and if we won though.

  10. oh, fair. So he probably wouldn't have actually made it if it'd been in Syracuse.
  11. =nymr83 post_id=10867 time=1558588222 user_id=54] Not to be overlooked: he arrived in the 3rd inning tonight. Mets could have been shit out of luck if he was coming from New Orleans or Las Vegas. Kudos to the Wilpons buying the team in Syracuse outright and ending the AAA musical chairs.
  12. This article was just an excuse to make a "stepped in it" joke about Ranches and holes. Yes, this is bad luck, but Cespedes having an accident at home is hardly "Mets" it's just a thing that happens. Even if he was horseback riding, which, granted, is not as safe as living inside a bubble and just doing PT, but is hardly super risky behavior. Yes, the Mets have played badly, which typically leads to questions about a manager. There's nothing particularly LOLMets about that. Yes, the Mets could/should have signed Keuchel/Kimbrel/Machado whichever your pick was, but it's not like Lowrie or Cano are chopped liver, and Diaz is GREAT. Did the Wilpons demand that Brodie keep Callaway? That seems extremely unlikely. What real attachment did they have to him? Isn't it more likely Brodie found Callaway at least amenable to how he wanted to do things, and it being easier to keep that in place and evaluate it? And how is that 'fomented organizational instability'? What does that mean? What's not stable? Alderson was here for a decade. They've kept plenty of guys around, hired more, and people COME BACK to work for the Mets, like Omar. Why are they being criticized for a reporter asking if Cespedes was actually on a horse, and why is only Cespedes' golf/horse-riding ever questioned? Is he the only baseball player that does these things? Every year people make these dumb claims about injuries being "so Mets" or that they mismanage injuries, and then I look at injury transactions and literally find dozens of examples of exactly the same behavior from other teams. So excuse me if I'm not convinced the Mets are some weird anomaly in how they handle these things.
  13. I just demand real reporting, backed up with facts, no insinuations and rumors that people that know people repeat. There's similar nonsense going around about the Mets voiding Cespedes' contract with a lawyer attempting to read between the lines of what BVW _didn't_ say and talking a whole bunch about what the Mets _could_ do despite there being no indication they could or would beyond what an Insurance company might demand in terms of investigating the 'reason' for the injury.
  14. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Oh and needless to say, we "lost" the trade to acquire him. You suck Van Waste-engen Did we? We come out with 500k in pool money, for a guy with an ACL tear in his knee that was a bad pitcher in his brief majors time, a meh bad 22 year old rookie league nobody pitcher, and an 18 year old (like, days before the trade) pre-rookie ball guy who hasn't appeared anywhere for the Brewers yet that I can tell. I mean, Broxton provided negative value, so that hurts it, but otherwise, I'd rather have the 500k today I think, than any of those players.
  15. in a vacuum, yeah, just something that happens. was 96/97 on those pitches i think. But Callaway also pulled him after that (well, bunt and IBB) so the confidence says something too.
  16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: =Centerfield post_id=10754 time=1558536915 user_id=65] I missed the game. How bad was Familia? Bad. Came in with everyone fired up on McNeil's come-from-behind 3r PH homer and gave up the lead in 3 pitches Bloop single to Kendrick RBI double down the line to Turner. That shot was an absolute missile, I swear I heard it whistling Sac bunt by Eaton IW to Rendon Showers
  17. yeah apparently they had a fist fight? I don't have an Athletic sub cause the Mets writers are meh. Considering it for Eno Sarris though, I should make my brother subscribe while his student account is still active, since I got into a fight with the school IT folks trying to get my alumni/edu account to work.
  18. =Centerfield post_id=10698 time=1558479757 user_id=65] There's some stretching there, but overall it's a pretty good summation of what is wrong with the Mets. I'm not surprised you think it's garbage.
  19. That's all hot garbage. Isn't the statistic that most injuries happen in the home? It sucks, but I'm not sure why this is some reason to pile on the Mets? I'm not sure why I'm supposed to take meaningless jabs "haha they're flopping around" as truth just because you keep repeating them? This nonsense about Cano has been his whole career, but now it's an indictment of the Mets somehow? Lowrie getting hurt is somehow some magic Mets disaster and not just bad luck? The Cespedes contract is bad because he cost them a lot of money for only one playoff berth (so far) but money shouldn't matter? make up your mind. geeze. do some actual reporting.
  20. =G-Fafif post_id=9698 time=1557530229 user_id=55] The airplane race was disappeared after 9/11.

  23. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: That's such booshit. Also, another year, another vapid ripoff Ford between-innings promotion that's not funny or entertaining in the least. This year they tried ripping off the Braves by having fans challenge an athlete, only to challenges like burpees and pullups, that they shoot underneath the stands (I guess in the trainer's area or whatever) so it's completely devoid of baseball or Ford for for that matter. You may recall they also embarrassed themselves ripping off the Brewers a few years ago with the race (only cars instead of sausages -- not funny!). Last year I think they junked people dressed as ugly cars for a tricycles disguised as cars race, which was also not funny or interesting. It's out in center field, no? the dumb Ford thing? I tweeted about it a bunch during opening day, took a bunch of pictures of the ridiculous thing. Typical 'path of least resistance' stuff, where they just throw out whatever was pitched at them by the approved MLB marketing vendors. These guys do the loops at the Winter Meetings selling this stuff to the teams. If you check out promotional calendars across the league, you see a lot of similarities. The airplane race was so perfectly fitting that they ditched in ..2004? was dumb. Just bring that back! You can even still use the 4 Shea colors for nostalgia reasons.
  24. I'm worried that Chili Davis' hitting philosophy really is as much of a problem as the Red Sox and Cubs made it out to be. Will Ramos has an ISO of .055. Frazier's is .122, and Nimmo's is .136. And we supposedly have a live ball. Maybe they aren't healthy, but they're getting nothing on their swings, and it's not the first time it's happened under Davis' watch. I know nothing, it's major league hitting, it's still small sample stuff, etc. But i'm not digging what I hear from Davis. Ramos started strong, hopefully it's just a blip of sorts. Frazier I worry was rushed through rehab a little, I'm hoping he'll at least round out, though he's the most expendable and also his track record isn't as long. Not sure what's up with Nimmo. maybe it's the approach. He's got the same walk rate, he's just not getting as many hits. His BABIP doesn't look abnormally low, though it is below his norm, though his norm isn't exactly a huge sample either. I thought he was preaching some "other way" approach stuff, but the Mets oppo hits aren't actually that out of line with past seasons. They're hitting it straight up teh middle a lot more, but also harder than at any other time in the past 5 years. But on the ground more. That's BS. at a time the ball is extraordinarily juiced, they gotta elevate the damn thing.
  25. what's not true about it? it's about efficiency. The efficiency of searching your bag, which is mostly unnecessary and could be accomplished just as easily by hiring a few more people, but still true. it's dumb and ridiculous of course. They claim they're the 6th team to do it.
