Hard for me to imagine there is much interest in Robert Jr, but I would move him is a heartbeat. The Mets best chips are likely the pitching. Where Minter, Reley, Brazoban, and Weaver could likely bring decent returns. I hate the annual tearing down of the bullpen and trying to rebuild it again every offseason, but this is where the Mets have value as sellers. Holmes would be worth resigning, but is otherwise our best trading chip of the starters. Peralta should be moved, though I don't see him bringing back much other than mid level prospect. I don't see Bichette as a bust. He has acclimated to third as well as should have been hoped. He got off to a horrendously slow start. His line since June 1st is .307/.344/.464/.808. Even with his slow start he is hitting .263/.337/.400/.737 with RISP for the season. Is he overpaid, yes I think so. However, he is not the reason for the Mets lack of offense. If he can be traded, for a solid prospect then fine, but I doubt it. We are stuck with Semien, Baty, and Vientos. I would move Polanco if at all possible, but I don't see that happening. Alvarez could potentially bring back a decent return from a contender in need of catching, but then either Torrens because your starter or the Mets need to fill the catching position in the off season. If the Mets are to acquire players that can help contribute next year, they will almost assuredly have to dismantle much of the bullpen. If being sellers means we trade for a prospects that are 2-3 years away, then I really don't see the point of trading usable pieces that are under contract for next season.

He was basically trotting into third. His lack of hustle is infuriating to me.

Pitching is a great deal like real estate....location, location, location. Velocity is great, but location and movement is extremely important.

Ewing played that carom beautifully. Made a strong throw and almost got Vaughn at second.

Maybe by a team that can actually hit, but he is facing the Mets.

The Mets managed 4 hits against Misiorowski in his 4 innings. Peralta is still out there for the Mets, but he surrendered 5 runs through the first 3 innings.

II won't be tge least bit surprised if the Brewers score more runs againt Peralta than the Mets get hits against Misiorowski. And there you go.

Sorry. Regarding coaches with or without MLB playing experience, I don't think it matters much as far as knowledge of the game. I do think, that many players may have greater respect and place greater credence on information or instruction that is conveyed by someone who has been through the grind of MLB. I think they view them more as a peer who has been there and knows what they are talking about. Regardless of his experience (or lack there of) as a player, I have not been overly happy with many of the decisions Tim Leiper has made this season. I am rather indifferent to to the Performance of Gilbert Gomez as first base coach. Antoan Richardson was very impressive as the first base coach last year. Just one person's perspective, but much like the line up construction I feel took a definite step back from last year, I believe the same can be said with the coaching changes last fall.

The stats posted by Seawolf indicate that, as Frayed Knot has mentioned numerous times, this Mets team just doesn't hit with men in scoring position. Taking it one step further, they just don't hit very well in most any circumstance. I posted it here because I think it is pertinent to the point of the Mets lack of offense and their need to maximize their productivity through smarter baserunning and play.

I know Soto is the Mets best hitter and one of the best in all of baseball, but I am tired of his half-hearted effort on defense and baserunning.

Senga is toast. The hitters seem to have adjusted to him. Due to his lack of command, he is virtually always pitching behind in the count. So hitters just need look fastball and ignore the splitter until you have 2 strikes.

Drinking is the only way I can stand to watch this team. If it wasn't for watching the development of Ewing, Benge, McLean, and Scott I likely wouldn't watch at all.

I remember Ron Hunt for his propensity for crowding the plate and his relative indifference to getting out of the way of pitches. I remember he led the NL in being hit by pitches for several consecutive seasons. He set the record for being hit by pitches (50)* in a single season while playing with the Expos. This at a time when players didn't wear so much (if any) body armor that they looked like Gladiators. *I knew he had set the record, but I had to look up exactly how many times he took one for the team. I was playing Little League and Senior League baseball during his streak. I couldn't imagine getting hit that many times. It obviously made a lasting impression on me.

Many of the decisions the Mets have made over the past year do not appear to have been based on intelligence, whether human or AI.

I know he might be one of their best trading chips, but I will be very upset if they move Lindor.

With 2/3 of the outfield (Benge & Ewing) being young , cheap & under team control for several years to come, they are worth holding onto. That should free up some money for the Mets to get starting pitching, a first baseman, and a quality RH outfielder that can DH/platoon or possibly allow Ewing to play second more. More and more, I am starting to believe that Bichette will return to the Mets next season. Noo one is likely match his current salary.

The Mets have enough holes to fill, that unless the return for Alvarez was to net them an established (or MLB ready) corner infielder or starting pitcher, I don't see it being worthwhile to move him. Accumulating more prospects, that are 2-3 years away from being MLB contributors, does not help to improve this team for 2026. Regarding Alvarez, I believe that pitch recognition and cutting down on his swing appear to be the things he most needs to improve if he is to better fulfill the promise of his early prospect ratings. He is strong enough that he does not need to swing so violently at every pitch. I feel he should work on going with the outside pitch and hitting it to the RCF alley.

It would appear that Myers needs to ditch the splitter and return to the change up he used previous. With greater movement, both horizontally and vertically it seems to be a "no brainer".

I just don't see a place for Vientos in the Mets future. Yes he is strong and has good power at the plate, but he has had 1328 at bats. He has managed a .234 BA and .284 OBP over that span even with his one good year in 2024. His career slugging of .429 with a career OPS of .716 just is good enough. Add to the fact he is a below average defender at either corner and that he doesn't run well. As Gwreck pointed out earlier, there just isn't a place for him on a team that seriously plans to contend for the post-season.

This team is hopeless. They just find ways to lose. For all the off season talk of improving run prevention, the Mets defense and pitching has been pretty poor.
