  1. "Trade rumors? I don't know, man. I'm just here to talk about mattresses."
  2. There's virtually no reason to keep him on the roster, Mets. Let him go.
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: My main memory of Daniel Murphy in 2008 is a tie game against the Cubs at Shea where he led off one of the late innings with a triple, only to get stranded at third. The failure to bring him home stuck with me as the Mets just missed the playoffs for the second straight season. My last Shea game. That was a rough night all around.
  4. Pignatano? I know Snider played in LA.
  5. Didn't I read that almost all of Bote's value came from his one walk-off grand slam? Something like that.

Ty Cobb was the youngest when he debuted in 1905, and the second-oldest when he retired in 1928. Almost. I think I was thinking something like this -- that someone could be both the youngest player in the league at *their* debut and the oldest at their retirement.

I tried the day before Nolan Ryan's birthday, but Joe Coleman snuck into the majors before Ryan did. It's impossible to fill both slots. The first player is younger than you, and the second player is older than you Oh, right. Duh. I need more coffee.

  9. Renteria and Colon for me. As far as I can tell, Jason Tyner was the first Met younger than me.

May have something to with MFYs coming in, they are getting extra days off before and after because they are arriving from a London series with Red Sox So not only are the Yankees dishonoring our schedule, but they're also dishonoring America. Check.

  12. Edgy MD wrote: Then they get every Monday off in July. Weird. Yeah, that eight-games-in-fifteen-days stretch is weird. I guess you figure there's a rainout makeup game somewhere in there.

I still their 22 game losing streak in September will drop them out of the playoffs completely. Miami had the bases loaded and nobody out in extras and the MFYs played the shift. Not one of the next three batters either tried to hit the other way or even bunt. And the announcers said one of those batters, while hitting around .160, had "great speed". Naturally, he swung from the heels. The second out of the inning was a nice play be Torres. He backhanded a grounder and made a quick sidearm throw to the plate to nail the runner. They did not score. Yech! Later It's almost as though the Marlins' owner called the dugout with a "suggestion" that they not score there.

  15. I'm still not 100% sure if it's for a specific model (The Toyota G's?) or a feature, but it's awesome. A Japan trip that includes baseball is absolutely on my bucket list. "You Gotta Have Wa" is one of the best baseball/culture books I've ever read.
  16. Wahl to the DL, Evans to the 60.

  18. The internet says we've called up the first Seawolf Met: lefty Daniel Zamora.
  19. smg58 wrote: So where's the thread on SUNY Brockport players? Someday, my friend. Someday.
  20. Our first Met! Congrats, Daniel Zamora!
  21. I stepped away for dinner and a quick fantasy draft and thought my screen was wrong. Holy moley.
  22. Throwing error for Franco brings home two. In Facebook parlance, I "like" that.
  23. Ooh, points for the old timey Phils unis.
