1. Howie & Gary said the Mets announced three callups for tomorrow:Shingo Takatsu was cut by the White Sox a few months ago, but he's given up one run in eight innings (with ten strikeouts) since joining the Mets' system. Japan's career saves leader went 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA and eight saves in 31 appearances with Chicago this season.Kaz Ishii has been pretty good since joining Norfolk: 2-2, 1.76 in 16.1 innings. He was awful with the big club earlier this year.Tim Hamulack was almost a Met last week in Arizona, but the Mets opted to keep Mike Jacobs around instead. The hard-throwing lefty has been excellent this year, with 34 Ks and only 9 BBs in 35.1 innings, pitching to a 0.82 ERA with six saves and a .167 batting average against him.
2. Cairo HBP in his right hand. Maybe he's hurt! Take him out! Put him on the DL! Send him to Norfolk! Send him to Ecuador! Just get him out of there!
3. Mike Piazza who?
4. How do you have an All-Bust Team without Pam Anderson?
5. First: What OO said - Sharon really crossed the line.Second: Eddie Trunk kicks ass, and it sucks that he got screwed like this.Third: If I owned a media company, I'd give Mike Piazza and Eddie Trunk a show. That'd be good times.

7. Or you're gonna have a lot of passed balls.
8. Anything's gotta be better than my "Genghis Khan, Mets Prospect" photo that I cropped together a few weeks ago for some thread.
9. Didn't Weiner come out very vocally during the "Mets on TV" fiasco this spring?I just want NYC to have a mayor named "Weiner."
10. Mike & Mike mentioned Wright in the same breath as the letters "MVP" this morning. If this team wins the Wild Card, he's a contender.
11. Hey, Jon Heyman! STFU!
12. Remember when he threw that bag of baseballs out of the dugout? Classic. The guy's a total whackadoo.

16. Considering "Todd" doesn't become a popular name until the 1960s (when it was the 31st most popular boys name), that would make sense.FWIW, "Corey" (see the Phillies IGT) spikes in the 80s, which explains why there were no Coreys until Cory Snyder -- and it really doesn't hit until Lidle & Koskie in the late 90s.I think Mr. Haim and Mr. Feldman might have had a lot to do with the spike in the 80s, which is scary.(All data courtesy of the Baby Name Wizard, which is a fascinating site.)
17. 1967, I think.
18. How about 2000, when the Mets tried to fit Todd Zeile, Todd Pratt, and Michael Todd Bordick on the same roster?(No, I don't know Bordick's middle name... but a b-r.com search for "Todd" brought him up.)
19. I like Abe Alvarez, because he's part of the silly hat club:The cool part is that it's not because he's some kind of punk; he's blind in his left eye, and the jaunty hat offsets the light.
20. No, he cleared waivers; he was an open signing. There was talk he was going to Oakland, which didn't surprise me, because Billy Beane loves his high-OBP guys. But apparently not.
21. And Mark Bellhorn is a Yankee.(sigh)
22. Sounds like someone is already in football mode!

24. DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Trenidad Hubbard, an outfielder who has spent 10 seasons in the majors with nine teams, was among 24 players selected Monday for the U.S. team at the World Cup in the Netherlands. The Americans will be coached by former major league manager Davey Johnson in the 18-nation tournament, which begins Friday. The U.S. roster consists of professionals not on 40-man major league rosters. It's the fifth time USA Baseball has used professionals, following the 1999 Pan American Games, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, the 2001 World Cup and the 2003 Olympic qualifier. Hubbard, who has spent 2005 with Tampa Bay's Triple-A affiliate in Durham, is joined on a squad that includes pitcher J.J. Trujillo and outfielder Chris Latham from independent leagues and pitcher Jason Jacome from the Mexican League. The U.S. is in Pool B with Australia, Colombia, Taiwan, Greece, Japan, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and Spain. ***The Team USA roster for the 2005 World Cup in the Netherlands, with name, 2005 team and major league affiliation in parentheses:Pitchers: Brian Bannister, Norfolk (New York Mets); Greg Bauer, Reading (Philadelphia Phillies); James Garcia, Norwich (San Francisco Giants); Talley Haines, Iowa (Chicago Cubs); Chris Mobley, Greensboro (Florida Marlins); Jason Phillips, Durham (Tampa Bay Devil Rays); J.J.
