  2. Animated scoreboard races are fine, because those don't happen while action is going on. Whoop all you want, act like a moron trying to get an intern to throw you a T-shirt, whatever. But once the ball's in play, it's game on.
  3. I hate the Wave. Hate it with the passion of a thousand fires. But try as you might, unless you buy out a whole section, you can't stop it, because there are kids (and, incredibly, adults) in every section who think standing up and whoooing like morons is a great idea. Then, when someone who was too busy whoooing with their arms in the air gets smacked in the head by a foul line drive, I'm supposed to think it's some kind of tragedy. Sorry, but no.
  4. When I saw this the first time, I thought this was spam. Now I'm pretty positive that this "offer" is bogus.
  5. Vic Sage wrote:the only reason i don't bring my glove is my own self-consciousness. Because I still dream of catching a foul ball. Please let Patchy know that you CANNOT, in fact, buy the experience of catching your own foul ball from a major league game by purchasing a $5 baseball. Still, if i was going for a foul and some kid got in my way, i'd crush him like a bug.Thank you, Vic. I was beginning to think I was the only person who felt that way; I was afraid to post. But I got your back now.
  6. So we're still 3 out. I guess that'll have to do.

  9. Hey! Surprise! The Mets got on a roll, then got embarrassed by a rookie pitcher! That never happens!/sarcasm mode turned offWhy isn't Diaz in the lineup today? I have no particular love for him, but if he's part of your future, he should probably be out there.
  10. Didn't someone mention during an IGT the other day that the Mets have stolen a lot of third base lately, but that the runner on first never seems to move? I understand when it's Ramon Castro, but I don't know why Wright wouldn't be on the move as soon as he sees Beltran go.
  11. And the rookie McLouth in right misplaces a fly ball and Beltran's on second base.
  12. We're not going Saturday night... my wife gets too tired at night now to hike that far, and it's just too much of a hassle to schlep him all the way in there by myself. He's too hyper; he'd spend the whole time going nuts. If we had a big, calm dog, then I'd do it; but he'd be jumping all over the place.$30/person, $5/dog, I believe.

  17. You know, though, I will forever remember that 1985 Topps Dwight Gooden baseball card. I remember pulling it out of a pack and seeing the meanest scowl I've ever seen. The guy was so much larger than life back then, and at least to me, being nine years old, there was nobody cooler in the whole world, and that card became one of my most cherished possessions, going everywhere with me... which is why it's currently all beat to hell and I had to buy a new one when I started going back and finishing those old card sets.So to me, regardless of what he did later, he's still part of the magic for me. Plus, he lasted longer; his departure wasn't the same that Straw's was.
