  1. Yeah, but Graffanino's a nice Long Island boy. Bring the ol' hometown hero home. (just kidding)
  2. NL East: NYM, ATL, FLA, PHI, WAS NL Central: STL, CHC, MIL, HOU, PIT, CIN NL West: SD, LA, SF, ARI, COL NL Wild Card: ATL NLDS: NYM over CHC; SD over STL NLCS: NYM over SD AL East: NYY, BOS, TOR, TB, BAL AL Central: CHW, CLE, MIN, DET, KC AL West: ANA, OAK, TEX, SEA AL Wild Card: CLE ALDS: CHW over NYY; CLE over ANA ALCS: CHW over CLE WS: NYM over CHW (What the heck, right? This is a freaking Mets message board. Let's go whole hog.) NL MVP: Carlos Beltran NL CY: Jake Peavy NL ROY: Prince Fielder AL MVP: Alex Rodriguez AL CY: Mark Buerhle AL ROY: Andy Marte edit: changed AL ROY pick. I was only going by whoever listed him first, assuming they'd looked him up, as I was too lazy to do so.
  3. How about Stacy Keibler from that "Dancing With The Stars"? She was hot.
  4. Hey, we need to do our "team leaders" predictions this year. When do we do that?
  5. I can't tell you how many times I've really wanted to send an Ed Lynch postcard to someone, but I just couldn't find one.
  6. Jose Contreras, free agent gem? Yikes.
  7. edited because I don't feel like arguing
  8. Wasn't a direct blast on you, Bret; just naysayers in general. I have no problem with bringing vets to spring training.
  9. If the Mets didn't waste all their time and hundreds of millions of dollars giving Andres Galarraga ABs last spring, they would have won the division. Any team that invites a veteran to spring training with a non-guaranteed spot is moronic; who does that? Just because a guy was good doesn't mean he'll be good again. The Mets are really the only club who does this; every other team looks to its young'uns to inspire them to victory. Willie Randolph is a moron. (sc=100)
  10. For just a second, I thought maybe Edgy had successfully invited a current Met to jump in the Pool.
  11. According to today's Mets Media Notes, Bobby Estalella announced his retirement. Seeya, Vaguely Steroid-Physiqued Man.
  12. I kinda liked how Sadaharu Oh had to wait for his translator to follow him out there to argue with the umpires. I chuckled.
  13. Alex Rodriguez! You just got the first big game-winning clutch hit of your career! What are you going to do now? Oh, wait. It's a meaningless preseason exhibition. Sorry.
  14. You know what's lost in this? Sadaharu Oh in uniform in the USA. Now I wish I could have gotten tickets to one of these Japan games. I like how Rick Sutcliffe is talking about the Japanese players like he's been following them for years.
  15. I envision Diaz, ultimately, as a failed prospect who never quite figured out a position to play. If we can get a warm body for him, then so be it.

  17. In defense of his bbr.com similarity scores, 844 isn't terribly similar. What that really says is that Trammell was close, but not really that close. Jeter's been good; very good. But not LOCK Hall of Fame good. Yet.
  18. No, right now, Derek Jeter is not a lock HoFer. Close, but not a lock. If he plays at this level for another two or three seasons, then I think he's a lock -- at that point, the WS titles push him over the top.

  20. I believe the rule is that you need to be eligible for citizenship in that country, by that country's rules. Some of them are complicated, but just about anyone with a parent or grandparent who was a citizen is pretty much eligible. MLB didn't make that up, it comes from the participating nations.

  23. ="Rotblatt"]Shallow fly ball to center, and Gourriel makes an over-the-shoulder grab to end the inning. That's future Met Gourriel.
  24. Hey! We need a second baseman! Let's trade Kaz Matsui to Cuba!
