  1. Griffey. Edgar's never going to get 75% of the vote. (But that's an argument for another thread.)
  2. Always thought he would have wound up at Shea at some point. What a great talent and ambassador for baseball. Congrats on a heck of a career, Junior.
  3. I agree with duan. Good Ollie is so damn good when he's on. He just needs to find a way to harness that. I'm not ready to give up on him yet either; it just seems right now like all the Mets are doing is setting him up to fail.
  4. Well, there you go, then. Rebuild Shea and sign him.

Your client will not be on our major league roster after tonight's game. We've already called Buffalo and Pat Misch will be in a Mets uniform tomorrow night. Your client will not. It's your choice: either he is sent to Binghamton, where he can work his way back to the majors and possibly be a part of a special season, or he will be cut. It's your choice Scott and you have until the end of tonight's game to make that choice." "Hey, Omar. Scott here. Hey, go eff yourself. Cut him; we don't care. He gets the same money either way, and if you cut him loose, then he's free to sign a deal with another team that might make him even more money down the road. So go right ahead, pal."
  6. Willis for Perez. Do it, Omar.
  7. Edgy DC wrote: I just see players stabbing a teammate in the back under the cowardly veil of anonymity. Me too. Actually sounds like a pretty douchey thing to do. I'm not saying I can tell whether or not he's an asshole, and I don't know if I want him on the mound right now, but I'd much rather this team had a veteran leader or coach or manager who can take him aside and give him the what-for rather than bitching about him to the media.
  8. Dickey 3 Valdes 3 Reyes 1 Bay 1 Wright 1 Francoeur 1
  9. Valadius wrote: I'm almost positive Wright is one of the culprits here. Funny. Val's usually way more adamant about this stuff. Should be more like "there's absolutely, unquestionably, no doubt in my mind that David Wright is one of the culprits here."
  10. Centerfield wrote: LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: "Centerfield" will go into the HOF this summer Thank you. Thank you. No it's really no big deal, but thank you. By the way, my wife is planning a HOF party. That's right, same caterer as Gary Carter. Thank you. Well, that's what happens when you let all the Latvian journalists into the BBWAA.
  11. "Stetson"? "Deck"? Parents are stupid.
  12. I want to be able to look back at this thread in the offseason and wonder what the hell I was talking about.
  13. Morgan: "Santana doesn't have a pitch that can get Jeter out."
  14. Hot damn, Orel's right. He came in to start the seventh inning, and his first major league hitter was Gary Carter, who grounded out to short; he then got Al Oliver and Tim Wallach. Not a bad trio for his first MLB appearance. (Sadly, he let the first three runners on in the eighth and got pulled. All three eventually scored.)
  15. Miller: "Says here that Derek Jeter's 'Zone rating' has gone up this year!" Morgan: "I don't know anything about any 'zone rating,' all I know is watching guys." (Oh, wait, that's an actual quote.)
  16. Morgan: "See, Cora has a short throw, and then Reyes has a long throw. You can't get a double play if you have two long throws." Oh, and a huge thanks to Teixeira for swinging at the first pitch right after Sabathia had to run the bases.
  17. Morgan: "I've never seen Derek Jeter with his batting average this low. I mean, he's gotten off to slow starts before, but it must be some sort of statistical mistake." Morgan: "This is the perfect matchup for Jeter. A lefthanded pitcher, who throws fastballs, and off-speed pitches."
  18. Not for nothing, but it's impossible to hit a pitch in the lower part of the strike zone without an uppercut, right? (Unless your arms are attached at your knees instead of your shoulders, I mean.) Boy, Morgan's a dipwad.
  19. Morgan: "Cora... is not the fastest guy, not a guy who's going to steal a base." Cora: /steals second base Cervelli: /sighs, looks disgusted, shakes his head like a douchebag
  20. Morgan: "That... was an excellent at bat with a runner in scoring position. What he did there was swing the bat at the pitch, and get a hit, which scored the runs. That's an excellent at bat by Alex Cora."
  21. Damn. Second and third, two out. Wish David was up here so he could strike out and crush our hopes and dreams.
