  1. Ya. Gotta. Believe. SHaM-WOO.
  2. El primero basemano de los Padres is yonder Alonso. (Actually, wait. I'm getting word that his name is Yonder. Thought his name is Alonso and he was just standing far away.) (And actually, wait again. Looks like Alonso IS yonder, as he's on the DL.) Their current first baseman is someone named Tommy Medica, but he hasn't played since LAST Thursday due to groin tightness. So basically, Mets, just hit ground balls to the right side, because there won't be anyone there to field them.
  3. Ooh, I forgot to follow up on this.

Centerfield wrote: http://metsblog.com/metsblog/mets-looking-for-ss-and-lf-help-via-trade/ All MetsBlog is doing there (Hell, all they EVER do really) is merely repeating and linking the original Adam Rubin line which I'm sure is the one that got this thread started in the first place: - namely that as we approach the July 31st deadline the Mets "will listen on trade proposals involving Bartolo Colon" (no surprise there) ... - and that they "MAY ultimately end up dealing him" (or maybe not) ... - and that if they do deal him they'd be looking for close-to-ready type players (Sandy has said as much publicly) - and that their preference would be either a SS upgrade or a bat for LF (logical assumptions). Wait, so you are looking for a Mets-related blog that does not re-link others' material, and offers, instead, original, entertaining, sometimes heartfelt material about our beloved team? Good luck with that. And if you do happen to find such a site, also find me a site that lists all the numbers ever worn by any Met, or better yet, a site that has every Met statistic ever, including the box score of every game in Met history. And if you DO find those sites, well, invite those guys to join the Pool, because anywhere those guys are posting is probably a pretty sweet place to be.
  7. Nicely done!
  8. Leitch: http://t.co/kgbt3rb9mw "And why did people want Wainwright to lie? Because now Jeter's night -- Jeter's perfect night -- was somehow sullied. Everybody had their stories written in the first inning. This was Jeter's last great moment, and of course he went 2-for-2 because he was special. Wainwright telling the truth meant that the Jeter's Great Night story had to have an asterisk. And Derek Jeter is never, ever supposed to have an asterisk."

Maybe the insurance zone changes or something! They do seem a little anal about the grass. I remember that when MiniWolf did the postgame run around the bases last spring.
  10. He's already a better hitter than Rey Ordonez. HEYOOOOOOOOOOO

  12. Totally agree. Although the Mets part is pretty funny.
  13. I'd trade him in a second if we can get a usable part or two for him.
  14. Not sure who Melanie Iglesias is, but she's got 700,000 Twitter followers and might just be an MLBS.
  15. Ian Kennedy to pitch on Friday, followed by Ross on Saturday and someone named Odrisamer Despaigne on Sunday.
  16. Wonderful game to attend. Weather, final score, postgame show, everything. Good times.
  17. Section 339 is the dog's bollocks, man. Clear shot of everything, nobody above you. We'll be in the shade in about an inning. No Huey shirt. Wearing a Tesla shirt, Mets Jersey, and Stony Brook hat. If you were to make a me bobble head, that's pretty much what it'd be wearing.
  18. We'll be in Section 339 if anyone else will be there. I'll be the guy sitting quietly in a Stony Brook hat and Mets jersey, quietly rooting for a pitcher's duel. (My MFY fan neighbor will be there with his family, and I told him it was okay to root against the Mets JUST THIS ONCE.)

  20. I think specifically he refers to the Ray Knight/Eric Davis fight that year when Foster stayed on the bench, but that was only a week or so after this one.
  21. You wonder if this was the point -- standing on the field, just outside the fray -- that he thought to himself "I'm too old for this shit."
  22. And George Foster is all like "NO, TEAMMATES, THINK OF THE CHILDREN."
  23. My gut said Ken Griffey, but he wore 22 in 1986 and that's almost definitely a second-digit 6 or 8. Gerald Perry wore 28 that year; could be him, although he wasn't on the active roster at that point. (DL, maybe?) Omar Moreno wore 18, but was taller and skinnier than that. Billy Sample wore 6, so he's another possibility.
  24. http://www.centerfieldmaz.com/2014/07/remembering-mets-history-1986-gary.html My dad took me and two friends to this game. I remember it like it was yesterday; I can picture where we were sitting and everything. Carter hit a three-run HR in the first and a grand slam in the second, and then Dave Palmer drilled Straw and it was ON. (I remember there being some ejections, but apparently not, although Palmer was replaced after the slam.)
