  1. Our third Seawolf in the bigs! bit.ly/1vI7nxn
  2. Sending my resume in.
  3. But if you just want an arm for the month and don't want to waste service time on a guy like Matz that you'll need later, then this might be a shrewd move. DFA him in October if he turns out to be nothing special.
  4. CY is a Yankee now.
  5. I saw Dice-K during the "walk from the dugout to the clubhouse" post-game shot last night, so you know he'll be back soon. I had to google Matt Reynolds because I'd literally never heard of him. Nice little season he had.

  7. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140822&content_id=90893612&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb The Mets' statement reads, in full: "In the fourth inning of today's Gulf Coast League game, first baseman Manuel Hilario slid into second base (feet first), colliding with the Nationals [second baseman]. He took a knee to the head and immediately began to experience seizures and remained unresponsive. After treatment on the field, he was airlifted to an area hospital via helicopter. At the hospital he was administered a CT scan, which appears to be normal. He is talkative, in good spirits and could be discharged tomorrow." Well, that's good news.
  8. An injury has to be really horrific for them to suspend a game.
  9. Whoa. http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2014/08/injured-1b-manuel-hilario.html GCL Mets 1B Manuel Hilario was injured in a horrific collision today that was so bad, that the game was suspended. No further details.
  10. 1) Manfred 2) Other guy 3) Werner

  12. Would be funny if Swan did know it, watching at home and cursing every strike. "No, dammit! That pitch was outside!"
  13. Would never have figured Goose lasted that long. If I had to guess, I would have said 1990 or thereabouts.
  14. LaTroy Hawkins and Jason Giambi both debuted in 1995. Nobody else goes back past that as far as I can tell.
  15. Pat Cantwell, tearing up AA: http://t.co/bABawf0FHt
  16. Travis is back! And he's got five RBI in his first two games off the DL. Update: Majors: Nathan (Detroit): 4-3, 5.31 ERA, 23 saves. 11 IP, 15 K, only 3 R in July/August. Finally turning it around. Koehler (Miami): 7-9, 3.80 in 23 starts. Minors: Tropeano (AAA Houston): 7-4, 2.97 in 97 innings. CALL HIM UP, HOUSTON. Jankowski (AA San Diego -- DL): He's back! See above. Cantwell (AA Texas): .672 OPS in 229 AB. Leads the league with 17 HBP, and has a 33% CS%. Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): .304/.334/.418 in 273 AB. Campbell (A Dodgers -- DL): 1-1, 4.91 ERA in four starts, but a 2.018 WHIP. Still on the DL. Rakkar (A Chicago): Has played at four levels -- include one AAA inning with Iowa for some reason -- this season. McNitt (A- Houston): 1-0, 3.42 in 23.2 innings. 1.056 WHIP. Krause (A- Pittsburgh): .268/.350/.545. 7 HR ties him for fourth the NYP League. Johnson (Oakland): hasn't started yet(??) Carmona: .333 OPS in 85 AB with high-A Clearwater. Still not playing anywhere as far as I can tell.
  17. I'm all in on the Tigers too. Get Joe Nathan a ring. Failing that, seeing the Royals in the postseason would be cool, and I'll echo everyone else who wants either the O's or Jays to make it out of the East. Screw the rest of the National League.
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Tim Byrdak in the booth with Howie today while Josh does a Chargers game. Hopefully in character as Hulk Hogan.
  19. I wish I had not not paid attention to my team for a solid two months, or y'all'd be in serious trouble. Good thing I drafted well.
  20. TransMonk wrote: That was a fun game. Yeah, it really was.
  21. I split this discussion out so it's not lost in the Marlins thread.
  22. Almost literally the same play. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_06_20_nynmlb_miamlb_1&mode=video
  23. 1. The Giants are likely to release 2B Dan Uggla soon as the veteran has gone 0-for-11 with six strikeouts in four games since joining the club and did not accompany the team to New York. SCENE: Dan Uggla walks out of the bathroom into an empty clubhouse. DAN: "Guys? Hey, guys? Where'd everybody go? I hope the bus to the airport didn't leave yet." Exit.
  24. And that tag woulda/shoulda been the 3rd out, but then Cincy got a hit right after that and scored another run or two. Final score: 3-1 I no longer understand this rule. I liked the idea of it at first but that was back when I thought it was going to be different from what it has become. In this case, the catcher CLEARLY has the ball prior to the runner ever reaching home (he's barely getting to that outer circle) so I don't see how the catcher is 'blocking' him. Exactly. And this was the exact play that they called Wright out on against Florida a few weeks ago and DIDN'T overturn it.
