If he'll take an undefined mentor/part-time role for a million or two, then I'd do that in a heartbeat. If some other team is willing to give him more, I'll respect that and bid him fond farewell with nothing but the fondest memories.

  5. Because like way too many voters, they have to make it about themselves, and not about the candidates. Eff that guy.
  6. It's Mattingly's MO: Get a job managing job, open up the Mitchell Report to shop for a batting coach. That's right - McGwire. Interesting.

  10. NO.

Buxton would be great because it'll send Hovvey to Minnesota. I'm open also. I understand that's potentially a PR snafu, but he's one of your best chips and if you can get a stud bat back, well...
  12. Fifteen years, $100 million. DO IT, SANDY.
  13. Internet sez we're at 35 before tonight's 40-man deadline. Here's who's eligible to be drafted, as per Mack's Mets: http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2015/11/40-man-roster-moves-rule-5-draft.html AAA --- Las Vegas 51s Matt Bowman Jayce Boyd Chasen Bradford Chase Huchingson Kyle Johnson Seth Lugo Danny Muno Brandon Nimmo Travis Taijeron Zack Thornton AA --- Binghamton Mets Xorge Carrillo Victor Cruzado Robert Gsellman Mickey Jannis Rainy Lara Tyler Pill T.J. Rivera Paul Sewald Domingo Tapia Jeff Walters Beck Wheeler A+ --- St. Lucie Mets Maikis De La Cruz Jeff Diehl Phillip Evans Yeixon Ruiz Stefan Sabol Logan Taylor A --- Columbia Fireflies Adrian Abreu Alberto Baldonado Wuilmer Becerra Ben Griset Vicente Lupo Luis Mateo Christian Montgomery Tim Peterson Natanael Ramos Jean Rodriguez Joe Tuschak A- --- Brooklyn Cyclones Gaby Almonte Michael Bernal Kevin Canelon Jose Celas Jose Garcia Craig Missigman Pedro Perez Alfredo Reyes Carlos Valdez Brandon Welch R --- Kingsport Mets Nabil Crismatt Gabriel Feliz Audry German Bradley Marquez Yoryi Nuez Luis Ortega Dionis Rodriguez R --- GCL Mets Luis Carreno Jose Maria Jose Martinez Victor Moscote Have to figure Nimmo, and I wonder if they'd try to hold onto Taijeron as well. Becerra? He's only 20, but maybe. And I'd hate to lose our shot at having MLB's first Xorge.
  14. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: And Zobrist could do the same, only better (most likely). And somewhat more expensively. Yes, but. He's also older and therefore less likely to keep that up. So spend more money on an older guy for (possibly) more production? I don't know. Dance with the horse that brought you.
  15. Vic Sage wrote: Flores proved to me he could play SS well enough to stay there next year, to keep his bat in the lineup. What he needs is a DP partner with the range to make up for his lack of it. That's not Murphy. I don't know if it's Herrera but it's worth finding out, considering his offensive upside. Also, with Tejada (and with Reynolds, Cecchini and Rosario in the pipeline), Flores' bat and D could play even better at 2b and make room for one of these guys to develop at SS. So I'd rather they took the Murphy money (3-4yr/$40-50m?), and added it to the budget for a power bat in the OF. I agree, but... ...you don't know what you're going to get out of Wright next year, and Duda's only played one full season. If Murph will take 3-4/40-50 to stay, I could see him getting 130 games between first, second, and third.

  18. Let someone else overpay him -- he's one of those "fits everywhere" guys who someone will give way too much money to. And yes, he plays "everywhere," but nowhere particularly well, and played only four positions last year.
  19. MFS62 wrote: OK, Betts and Bogaerts for Harvey, Nimmo and Cecilliani(or Reynolds). I would do that in a SECOND. There's no way the Sox go for that.
  20. I'd make this deal.
  21. Centerfield wrote: It sucks that Jose has to be the poster boy for this. But you know, I guess he deserves it. This and this. 81 games is entirely reasonable because fuck that shit.

He actually is the all-time MLB leader in WHIP at 0.964, just ahead of Addie Joss and Billy Wagner, and third in opponent AVG and OBP. What magic happened in 2015? He came to the Mets and instantly ended a long history of walking a lot of people. Full marks to Dan Warthen, I guess.

  24. He fell juuuuust a bit short of the expectations set by his digital counterpart in my OOT16 game, where he's been a bullpen ace for thirteen seasons, is still going strong in 2027, and somehow actually won the Cy Young as a middle reliever in 2020.
  25. We could make an eleventh "EVERYONE SELECT THIS" option to give a more guaranteed number.
