  1. I think they both have 2027 deals, but Robert's has a buyout, IIRC.
  2. I always vote party line (all Mets) in the NL, and then the worst possible players at each position in the AL. (Unless there's somebody I particularly like over there for some reason.)
  3. Zack Short is back! Claimed from the Tigers, sez the internet. Polanco to the 60.
  4. We're going to either win these three games by the combined score of 28-23, or lose all three like 38-2.
  5. I would have picked Vidal Brujan, for what it's worth.
  6. Hey, look, we keep losing the first two and winning the third one every time? We'll still suck, but at least we'll end each series with high fives across the infield. It's all about winning the emotional battle, watching the other team celebrate before you have to pack up.
  7. okay no more home runs now please
  8. Gotta get Duarte into this game soon so we can send him down afterward.
  9. Fuckit, I want this game to end 20-18. I want middle infielders pitching. I want to set a home run record today.
  10. I think you have to sell this team for parts at this point. The only folks who care about having around next year are Lindor, Soto, McLean, Scott, Myers, Ewing, Benge, and I still love Alvy. That's eight guys, which is sad. I picked a random bad Mets team in the past - 2018 - and I found more than twice as many guys who I was legitimately excited about at the time (Wilmer, Conforto, Nimmo, Dom, McNeil, Rosario, Guillorme, Lagares, deGrom, Wheeler, Matz, Harvey, Lugo, Noah, Robles, and maybe Cespedes, and that's not even including old Jose Reyes and retiring David Wright). How do you fuck up a $380M payroll this badly?
  11. Won't matter, because there's no way we hit this guy.
  12. The hat is awesome tonight (I mean, if you remember the game) and it's probably cooler because they had to make less of them. And doesn't have a shitty sponsor logo on it, either.
  13. No, it's quite the opposite. You're guaranteeing a special item for folks who actually want it, rather than the first thousand yahoos getting a Puerto Rican flag they don't care about. It's like the Stony Brook and Syracuse hats this summer; rather than giving shitty ones to the first 15,000 fans, you make nicer ones and give them to people who are excited about it.
  14. Agree. I keep saying that this can't be good for guys, flying all over the place on a dime like this.
  15. This isn't new - they've been doing this for years. They have all-play promotions, and then they have special ticket packages with more specific giveaways. I don't necessarily mind or care. My only frustration would be if I already had a ticket and I wanted that special item, would I be allowed to "upgrade" or would I have to buy a second ticket?
  16. And Alvarez is back! Surprise. RF Benge SS Bichette LF Soto 1B Young CF Ewing 2B Semien 3B Baty DH Melendez C Alvarez SP Peralta
  17. Wild one in Oakland wait Sacramento DAMMIT Vegas last night as the Brewers top the A's 15-14 in twelve innings. Ace Kyle Harrison gave up eight runs in less than three innings, but the Brewers clawed all the way back, scoring two in the top of the ninth to send it to extras. The Brewers scored four in the top of the 10th, which the A's answered with four of their own in the bottom half. Scoreless 11th, then our ol' buddy Jeff McNeil threw it past the catcher, allowing the Brewers to score what would be the game winning run. Love win probability charts that look like this!
  18. I just realized that MM is actually MGIM. Carry on. :)
  19. MFYs announce that Aaron Judge will miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured rib. (Ouch.)
  20. Which is impressive for a guy who retired in like 1998.
  21. So you're saying there's a chance!
  22. I kinda love the idea of a surprise pitcher. WHO WILL IT BE?!? No one knows. (ESPN has Brazoban in the slot with 40 minutes to first pitch, so that seems likely.) The "opener" idea is as stupid as the Manfred Man, by the way.
