    I listened to the first few innings as I drove home from Geneseo after returning my daughter to college. Soto's grand slam happened just as I pulled into my garage, which was fortuitous timing. I also caught innings 8-9 after my nap ended. Good win for the good guys.

    This makes sense to me - we've seen Alvarez and Vientos both struggle to put together successful seasons consecutively (though Vientos is finally making his case in August).

    What a great ending. I can't recall ever seeing a team win a game by hitting four straight singles to plate one run in the bottom of the 9th.

    I didn't watch and didn't care. I chose to go to a Syracuse Mets game instead. We left in the 6th with them down 15-0.

Edgy I am sorry to hear about your Parish friends. That is awful. I should have said that I noticed this on the TV broadcast, that in the early innings, there were lots of empty seats at field level. Usually the Mets draw a better crowd than that with so many transplanted New Yorkers living in the capitol area. My wife ruminated on the possibility that conditions in the DC area, with all of these fascist military and para-military people actively roaming the streets, may have kept more of those fans home. Later on in the game it looked to have filled in a bit more. Could have just been traffic or weather related, too, for all I know.

    I can't tell you how painful this broadcast was to watch and listen to. Yes, it's an exciting day for little leaguers, but, hell, just show baseball and talk about this game and these teams. I'd have been perfectly content with non verbal images of excited kids in the stands.
