1. i was excited about watching him develop - he seemed like a really good talent with great instincts. maybe his offense never really gets to be too dazzling, but he'll be a solid contributor wherever he goes i think. I guess i'll just have to be excited about Lindor instead... i think that i shall manage.
2. well, duh. if he was a yankee fan, there'd be nothing to make a movie about.
3. gah, was just gonna suggest cone.... As a non-met, kenny lofton has gotta be one of the highest-ranked players lacking an asterisk.
4. how do realmuto and mccann compare as gamecallers and/or pitchframers? is there a potential advantage there that mccann might have that isn't as well captured in the usual WAR metrics?
5. [pushed glasses up nose] well, actually, it was han solo who cut open the tauntaun so he could keep luke warm.
6. i went springer, realmuto, and bauer. i think of the three, bauer is the least likely to bank on, as there's other pitching out there thats closer to him, than are the options at C & CF. i think the cano thing helps the infield logjam, and helping that logjam makes it easier to not have to go after lindor to resolve it. getting lindor is a bonus that i wouldn't balk at. but getting the above three is more necessary, and more what i think they'll get. lemehieu is good, but i'm leery of long term with him.
7. jeez, what a stupid, stupid thing to've done. but yeah, it does help to alleviate some of our logjams for this year at least. next year, well.... we'll deal with that next year.
8. rolen, helton, jones, schilling and i guess bonds, clemens, and manny, too.
9. is marcus semien something we would be interested in if we'd think our current crop of infielders and spare parts might be better served in servicing the rotation?
10. yeah, he's as close to a must-have as there is this winter. if we miss on springer, there's a lot of cobbling together of odd fits in odd places. which, well, sounds like a very traditionally metly thing to have to do. and while i'm all about tradition, i hope we can do away with that one, maybe just a little bit. with springer, on the other hand, it really unlocks the tumblers on all the other things we might like to get done this winter.
11. Does seem that libs want their leaders to subjugate Trump supporters though "we will subjugate you by affording the same rights, privileges, and benefits you currently enjoy, to a wider, more inclusive populace." Those monsters!
12. I'm on board with trying to get springer. and fully expect us to be on the hook for stroman, for better or worse. mccann? sure, as long as it's not brian. and it's a hell of a lot better an idea than yadier fucking molina, that's for damned sure. other than relievers, which we shall always need, do we have any other significant team needs that would then go unaddressed with the above? do we need another starter, or should assuming syndergaard is healthy enough going to be enough?
13. =Centerfield post_id=49593 time=1604346783 user_id=65] You never know how anything will play out. But upgrading to Steve Cohen from Jeff Wilpon in the owner's box is like upgrading to Carlos Beltran from Jeff Wilpon in centerfield.
14. yeah, in my opinion, any time you bring in a reliever, you're rolling the dice on whether or not he has it that day, and the most ready thing you have to compare that risk against is how well your current pitcher is performing.
15. sigh... i just hope the civil war dies down in time for pitchers and catchers to report.
16. Ya know, maybe the rays shoulda left snell in the game.
17. all-in on the rays, but i'm ok with the dodgers. i like to see teams break free of 'choker' labels. unless those teams are the braves. then i like to see more and more shoved down their throats.
18. if we're gonna go with promising guys who took forever to have a year that wasn't shaky, i'd maybe be interested in gausman instead, considering bauer's baggage, and the short sample size making me thing this year is not entirely sustainable. that said, he had a hell of a year, and could keep degrom from getting a cy young. so i don't think that i wouldn't want him....
19. incredible catch by bellinger last night to rob a homer from tatis. it was a fucking laser beam too. i don't know how it didn't punch a hole through cody's glove... (note: i have no idea what the statcast metrics were on the ball. just going by eye) it sucks because i'm all-in on san diego this year. i'd love to see them move on. they look fun, and wear cool uniforms.
20. fixed it. totally not racist anymore.
21. went a few times in middle- and high school. not sure if i went in college. always was curious about the loop-de-loop tube. i remember going on the high speed slides and feeling like i was one bad hydroplane away from skipping over the edge. rode the alpine slide a few times. the last time i rode it, i hit an expansion joint in the concrete, bounced somewhat off my cart, scraped up my elbow, knee, hip, and shoulder. nothing terrible, but i can at least say that action park scarred me for life, a few square-inches worth. one of the last times i went, we went with a friend who was not the strongest swimmer. they did the cannonball slide - the one where you drop out of the tube into a pool several feet below. he had to be pulled out by a lifeguard. he was ok, but did get to have "CFS" written on his arm. we reasoned then and there that it meant "Can't Fucking Swim" one day, i'll watch the HBOmax movie about it.
22. I don't think McNeil is nearly as speedy as he thinks himself to be.
23. i'm having such a hard time finding baseball cards right now.... usually i snag a few packs when i drag a net through target, but they're all bone-dry right now. and i really don't know where my nearest baseball card store is.
24. if its an ass, it must be john rocker.
