    ooh, yeah, i'm going to likely be unavailable before 8 at the earliest- just got the umms' baseball schedule. but i can plan to do poorly just as well with an autodraft.

    i'd prefer if we could push it later than that, even.... but i can adjust, and incur the ire and wrath or my family if need be.

    best for both sides would be to bring him back, presuming there'd been no burnt bridges. he makes our team that much better. even if adding him makes our lineup that much trickier to manage - but we'd have a hell of a bench, and plenty of backup in case cano isn't what he could, or should, be. i'd still be inclined to offer him a 5x100 deal, similar to what the phils just gave castellanos. i'd bank more on conforto providing that value over the term of it, too. but yeah, i don't see many other landing sports. maybe seattle...? though they just got winker, so who knows.

    jesus fucking christ. it's not that hard. how many major leaguers and minor leaguers are there? how many olympians? how many players in the major sports and their farm systems, how many college players. how many got vaccinated? how many lived to tell the harrowing tale. how many got covid? how many got long covid? how many had various complications? i dare him to find any athlete who, outside of an actual allergic reaction, had any meaningful side effects that were appreciably worse than "mild covid, but without endagering anyone else"

    i could understand not wanting to get the shot midseason, what with the owie arm thing happening. i'm sure as a pitcher that could fuck you up if you tried to work through it. and it might maybe mess up your swing, i guess. so it would probably take you out of the lineup for a few days... but my kids got their shots and all had basketball games either that day or the next, so maybe man up. regardless, there's no excuse for any of these babies to not have gotten the shot in the offseason. and if they didn't, then fuck'em.

    so, now that the free agent frenzy is imminently upon us, who among the remaining top free agents will be the first to sign? who's gone first? bonus points if you pick the correct team in your reply.

    at this point, while i would love to see one of those hitters signing with the mets, i think it's more liklely that, if we're going to add more free agents, it'd be a carlos rodon. super-outside chance we take a chance on kershaw, though that's perhaps wishful thinking, and of wanting to see 8 cy young awards on one staff. i think a trade is most likely, with two of dom, jeff, and jd going somewhere like cincinnati or oakland in return for an arm. which could, well, open up some room in the lineup too...
