hmm. i guess not. i suppose from the standpoint that if nothing else, thole was there for most of the year, i suppose i could move him up some. in looking at it, it seems hard to believe that i'd have such a gap between harris and he. their offense was equally bad, and neither was a good defender. though thole had the harder position to man. in my own figuring, i think i was also overly hard on my catchers for passed balls and stolen bases against. thus i offer the following: 30 Reyes 29 Dickey 28 Beltran 27 Murphy 26 Turner 25 Duda 24 Wright 23 Tejada 22 Bay 21 Pagan 20 Niese 19 Gee 18 Parnell 17 Rodriguez 16 Capuano 15 Acosta 14 Davis 13 Pelfrey 12 Batista 11 Isringhausen 10 Thole 9 Harris 8 Evans 7 Pridie 6 Young 5 Hairston 4 Paulino 3 Beato 2 Igarashi 1 Byrdak 0 Buchholz -1 Nickeas -2 Baxter -3 Stinson -4 Thayer -5 Carrasco -6 Herrera -7 Schwinden -8 Satin -9 Pascucci -10 Martinez -11 O'Connor -12 Emaus -13 Misch -14 Hu -15 Boyer

hmm. in the six years we've been doing this league, this is the first season where the winner had neither the top batters (#2, with 52.5 points) nor the top pitchers (#5 with 45 points). those honors fall to guldens spicy brown offense at 60.5 points and smg58's pitchers at 53 points. los luncheros racked up 51 points.

Tired of hoping the random dregs left can be spot starters. i dunno. this year, those dregs were largely a key to my success, plus some insane hotness when my team was actually healthy and together in the middle of the season. last year, man, did i hate this league last year. i couldn't find a warm body worth a damn on the waiver wire.

not yet. i'm still wary of a momentus collapse - those things seem to running around these days. i don't think there's all that much room for movement with one game left (would a 1-game playoff count for the league? hmm... ) but i'm still keeping the bottles corked for now. i'm also still not really all that sure how i've managed to win, as my draft wasn't terribly good, and injuries and trades hurt me a bit throughout hte year. i guess i just picked up the right guys at the right time, and my potentially foolish investment in pitching in the draft paid off. and i'm thoroughly clueless as to how my team became such an offensive powerhouse. batting average aside, for each of the other categories, i was worst or second worst in the league in april and/or may.
-
holy shit, i'm tied for first!
-
holy shit, i'm in second place!?
-
better than bud norris / jason marquis? no! i'm probably wasting my roster spot with an injured stevey strasburg, aren't i? stoopit autodraft!
-
i'll put my top three of lee, jiminez, nolasco up against any other in the league. my relief is weak sauce, though, and my philliephul roster will be my undoing. and, hopefully, theirs.
-
i'm in two leagues this year - cpf and a league with some friends from work. i had been in the mofo keeper league for the past 6 years or so, and won it twice, but decided this year to drop out. i left behind a fantastic team with pujols, votto, pedroia, lester, and a couple candidates for the 5th keeper. i dropped out because i don't participate there at all anymore, i've not been paying enough attention to any of my fantasy leagues lately, and i feel kinda bad holding a perfectly good roster spot in a league i might not play much in. it kills me to leave that team behind, especially since i never received any of my yahoo league swag.
-
i don't hate my team, but i think it'll probably suck anyways. i expected much worse from autodraft.
-
ugh. i may miss all or most of the draft tonight. i'm in the paciifc time zone, and will be working past 6... i hope my autodraft does nice things for me.
-
dangit... i'm working to update my spreadsheet and tehn tally everything up, for comparison sake. i wouldn't begin to suggest that i hold up the works. i just might offer up a dissenting opinion once i'm thru. the 'bot will surely have an interesting take, as well.

2010 CPF NL Only Fantasy Baseball Anyone?

this seems like something i can partake in (tho my fantasy sports participation has been noticeably flagging lately) -
were delgado's 26 games so tremendously good that they outweigh daniel murphy's 155, and jose reyes' 36?

so i'm looking through my schaeffer voting, and here's my rankings based on that: note, my #2 starter is livan hernandez. ugh! also, if i add my votes for francoeur and church, i get the 4th ranked met. ugh, some more! oh god, and luis castillo of all people is licking the heels of johan santana. my god, what had this season become!? I'm glad I've done as well as I have, having lost my first two draft picks (reyes y beltran) for most of the year. I don't think I would've unseated the hub, but I'd've maybe made a better race of it. -

We are going into believability in a world where a guy has the attributes of a Spider? Granted Spidey isn't going to be any where near the Marvel Studio productions, sadly actually, but still, I'm not sure if getting carried away in "Oh this is complete bull shit" is the right way to go when talking about comic book films! gamma rays interacting with spiders who cause genetic mutations in humans, i can go along with. a guy fabricating a suit of armor, made out of scraps of metal salvaged from the casings of missiles (or just ordinary steel), which is impervious to 0.50 cal bullets and also sheilds his eyes from said bullets despite the friggin eye holes... well... i can't go that far. his later suit, i'll go along with. not this. terrorists without RPGs. i can't go along with this. its like a bond villain without a lasar beam! and large military missiles emblazoned with the manufacturer's mark while sold on the black market (or even while sold to the us military), that i can't go along with. the movie should keep me suspending my disbelief. when the first scene of the movie has me saying "oh, come on!" they're only going to take me so far.

well, ok. aside from that. happy coincidences happen all the time. and the planet was literally just destroyed. i'll give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest that he's a little broken up about the whole thing and hasn't yet gotten the chance to start walking over. but yeah, right. i forgot about that part.

reading this helped me understand the backstory on the motivation of nero. i didn't really grasp enough of hte details on spocks failed mission as they were rushing through it in the film. not that i still fully get nero's conviction that spock should be held singularly responsible, but it definitely helps. saw the movie yesterday. really liked it. wasn't terribly deep, but still very entertaining. most importantly, there was nothing that necessarily troubled me. and jj abrams did the whole time travel thing reasonably well without creating too much of a cornucopia of disturbing concepts. the wifey liked it too, which is a pretty good compliment considering how she typically doesnt care for either sci fi or actiony things, and she's got virtually no star trek knowledge, proving that you didnt need to know the back story to enjoy the film.

yeah, i'm still trying to figure out how the guy could've built the dog translators and tracking scope given the technology of his day... i mean, if carl is 78, then muntz had to've taken off for south america back 70 years ago, right? so that means 1939ish... pretty darned impressive! though, if i can accept that hanging a pair of blankets out of windows on opposite sides of a house can steer said house south across the prevailing winds at both temperate and tropical latitudes, then i guess i can also accept that charles muntz was a steampunk genius before steampunk was even cool. i think once muntz established hisself as batshit crazy, there was really no point in trying to explain themselves...
