  1. we may already be at that point. or this might just be a shit stretch of bad baseball by a good team. i'll panic come memorial day. or tomorrow. whichever feels more right.
  2. so, like, what'd we do so wrong over the offseason to put us where we are right now? it's not like our new additions are all that much the problem, and our prospective-additions-that-weren't aren't exactly lighting the world on fire. i think the only pitcher that was potentially tied to the mets that looks like a missed opportunity was nate eovaldi, right? but if megill and peterson weren't hot garbage alongside carrasco, that wouldn't be quite as big of a miss, would it? if those two were doing what they should, the fragility of our older pitchers and the growing pains of senga wouldn't hurt as much. the offense could use vientos and mauricio possibly coming up and hopefully producing - like the reliable producers that rookies always are - but the real problem is escobar, marte, nido, and canha all sucking bhmc, with a side suck of underwhelming inconsistency from the top of our roster. thoughts?
  3. so, what would you do with him once you brought him up? where does he play? because i'd want his bat in the lineup every day. i'd love it if he and/or baty could play LF, but i'm not sure how much that's the case. do you drop pham if so? if you line him up at DH, do you drop vogelbach? or does vogelbach move to the bench and either EE or guillorme gets the axe? cutting vogelbach is probably the best call from a roster construction standpoint, i think, in that he gives you the least flexibility and defensive utility, but he's also the best hitter so far of the four i've mentioned. what are your thoughts?

Date of Bucks first ejection - may 15[/CROSSOUT] as per usual, i'm not doing well. near as i can tell, alvarez is the answer to 11, committing the mets' first error on april 9th against the fish. i haven't dug into 12 or 13. OE: bbref tells me that mark canha is our lone OOBHer thus far in the season (out on base at home). so yeah, i got another one wrong.
  5. They need to put out clear guidelines on how much is too much, how to clean hands off, what can and what cannot be used. If the issue - as was discussed this morning on the mlb radio morning show - was that max cleaned his hands with alcohol, and that ‘activated' the rosin making it stickier, but the alcohol was available and furnished for hand-cleaning and rosin removal, then there's a big fucking problem isn't there? He cleaned his hands in front of the dugout mlb official. If he was doing it wrong, there's a big problem there. The rule cannot be “don't use too much, and we'll know what too much looks like when we see it”
  6. Did Nimmo look like he came up just a tad lame after that play at second?
  7. i'm intrigued by this sushi burrito concept. sounds absolutely delicious. we don't get these types of things in the rural northwest corner of new jersey, where our nearest shake shack is over a half hour away!
  8. Well this is a worrying past two games…
  9. so it begins. verlander to the IL https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/03/mets-place-justin-verlander-on-injured-list.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/03/mets-place-justin-verlander-on-injured-list.html what the hell even is a teres major. sounds like a made up muscle that only a met would injure.

  11. really wish they'd come play against the sussex miners in the frontier league...

  13. ok, there's still one open slot. (it'd be nice if it alerts you that you've already got a team in a league when you sign up through a link)
  14. shit. i'm double dipping. i'll abandon the new one.
  15. yay, league filled. now, for draft prep!
  16. 1. What will The Mets' record be? 96-66 2. Where will The Mets finish in the NL East? 2nd 3. Will The Mets make the playoffs (yes/no)? yes 4. If so, A. Where exactly will their record land, 1 through 6 (remember that there are 3 Wild Cards), in the NL; 3 B. How far will they advance; world series winner C. The number of games in their final round? 7 5. Who wins the World Series (can be the same answer as Q.4.B.)? the mets 6. How many home runs will Pete Alonso hit? 51
  17. locastro also gives the mets a little bit of health insurance in case nimmo is still feeling the effects of his knee/ankle injury. i'm much more ok with him making the team over the kids than ruf. oe: mind you, this comment is relative only to the start of teh season. once we see how healthy and effective everyone is, i think we'll see baty up sooner rather than later, with vientos to follow.
  18. oh, i dunno. we could throw a coupla bats at him.
  19. boy, fangraphs and bbref really have a difference of opinion on these two, don't they? posey has 57.5 fWAR but only 44.8 bWAR mauer has 53.0 fWAR and 55.2 bWAR there's certainly some difference in offensive RAR happening, but wow is the big difference in defensive RAR, let alone the positional penalty/benefit that fangraphs plays vs bbref.
  20. i gotta get around to seeing it...
  21. ugh... i'd love it if teams could start throwing people on the 60-day IL already!!!
  22. man, ruf is really just not even making the case for him to be on the roster this spring, is he? best thing for him might be for his wrist to keep bothering him into a DL stint, where he has an extended recovery in AAA. it's crazy that he dropped off SO MUCH from what he could do for the giants. if he's no longer that player - and this spring aftrer last year, it really doesn't look like he is - then how do you roster him? i'd go into the season with mcsquirrel as my outfield backup plan, escobar as my dh alongside vogelbach, and baty penciled in at third.
  23. It's crazy how the dream matchup was what it ended on.
  24. Holy shit what an ending!
