  1. His name is an anagram for 'Wonder Gang'.
  2. Boy, it must have been really good to be Ralph Kiner back in the day.
  3. Jeff McNeil signs a 4-year, $50 million extension, value can go to $63.75 in the 5th option year. A very good deal in this market.
  4. Sign him for 8 years after the 2023 season. He'll be 36 when it's done. Give him lots of money. Hope he doesn't get injured like Howard did, which made the end of his career very ugly. You'll also have the DH spot to park him in, something Howard didn't have.
  5. G.uys like this are so so far away from the majors, there's no telling what they'll do or even what position they'll play. Hope for the best.
  6. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=116803 time=1673812382 user_id=68] =roger_that post_id=116790 time=1673781682 user_id=128] I argued above that a year from now seems like a sensible, prudent time to extend Alonso for a generous if limited number of years....
  7. Extend Pete at the end of this season provided he doesn't fall down an open manhole and move on. Man's done enough to earn it.
  8. i really don't want Darin Ruf to the the 4th OF on this team.
  9. Cutch isn't nearly the player he once was but he'd slot in nicely to that RH DH/4th OF role. I think they might want to let Alvarez sharpen up in AAA by playing every day for a little bit which is why they got Narvaez.
  10. I'd be more pissed about this if they didn't have the position already manned. They'd have had to make other moves with Escobar and Baty, and now they don't. Correa always felt a little like overkill. That said, they still need another bullpen arm and a right-handed DH. And yeah, that's Ohtani money Steve can spend next year.
  11. "Pending a physical", lol.
  12. =metirish post_id=116415 time=1673349821 user_id=72] Nothing much new but talks with Twins accelerating according to Athletic report overnight
  13. I have absolutely no memories of Sam Clay. He was merely a waterbug skimming across the pond of my Met consciousness, leaving no trace, not even a ripple to prove he was ever there.
  14. Yeah, there have been so many 'sources close to....' stories that I'm just gonna wait this thing out.
  15. =MFS62 post_id=116270 time=1673052544 user_id=60] Sny reporting he has been released by LA. Later
  16. You kind of get the feeling that if the Mets balk, Boras will sign a shorter-term deal with the Twins, who always seem to be in the background. They've seen the medicals and were OK with offering him the 3-year deal for over $100 million that he opted out of. They also made a long-term offer that the Giants blew out of the water. So they'd be a pretty reasonable fallback.
  17. I wish Cohen had bought the whole thing at once. I hate that the Wilpons still own SNY. Losing Keith would be a disaster. Just For Men sales would crater.
  18. Equally major upgrade to the 2023 Wifey Watch thread - Mrs. Carlos Correa is Daniella Rodriguez, the 2016 Miss Texas and a total smoke show. Eat crap, Kate Upton! (except don't, I love you, it's OK baby). https://eldiariony.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/11/gettyimages-537586250-e1509642403490.jpg?quality=60&strip=all&w=770> Ohhh my. SNY needs a dedicated camera for the wives section in 2023.
  19. Never really had a place once Pete hit 53 home runs. Wish him well, but wish he'd gone out of division. I'm betting he has a great year with a steady job on a no-pressure team.
  20. Considering George's issues, I'd bet he's actually a die-hard Yankee fan. Or has no concept of baseball whatsoever.
  21. And yet Angel Hernandez lingers on.
  22. I do it every year with the Washington Post, ping-ponging with Lefty Jr. I'm guessing Jeff Bezos can afford it.
  23. Wagner had really made his name with the Astros and Phils before becoming a Met. And he wasn't a New York-style kind of guy; he always seemed like he was there for the money (most players are, but he didn't even try to fake it). Had a damn fine career and deserves to be in the HOF.
  24. 55%? Really? What does that even mean? It's a fancy way of saying "we don't know what's going to happen".
