  1. I'm not a doctor, but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Second TJ recoveries tend to not go as well as the first ones. There's scar tissue from the first surgery, for one thing. And yes, you're repairing the same area over again. Jake better not try to throw 100 ever again.
  2. For the past three years he's had different kinds of weird soreness with murky explanations. He was probably pitching on the edge the whole time and not being truthful about it. You can't throw 100 pitches a start as hard as he threw them for as long as he threw them without something happening. Eppler and Cohen made the right call here.
  3. Fortunately, they've got a 3-game series in Atlanta to perk them up. Or...........not. This is a team that's just out of synch. It seems every time they start to get it going, they stall out. Pitchers have good games followed by bad games. Hitters are going into funks. The good people in the bullpen are being overused and the rest of them just suck. So after 60 games, they're just spinning their wheels. We're actually traveling to Pittsburgh to see them next Saturday. I'm kinda dreading it a bit.
  4. Megill pitching awkwardly but effectively so far.
  5. Gelbs doing play-by-play makes me appreciate Gary just that much more.
  6. I just want to say that this thread title made me do a spit-take on my keyboard. Well played.
  7. "I paid $43 million and all I got was this lousy ballgame." - Steve Cohen "Oh, and Mrs. Verlander."

Two hits, three walks, and nine strikeouts on just 95 pitches. Yeah, let him do that 3 or 4 more times. I don't trust him at the major-league level right now.
  9. It was okay. I actually met Phil Knight in the '90's and he's a bit of a weird dude. Great cast, and not actually showing Michael was a good thing. Everyone knows what he looks like and seeing someone else play him would have been distracting. Fine for streaming, but I'd never pay to watch it in a theater.
  10. Always fun when you get an "Oh WOW!!!!!" from Gary at the end of a game. Only gets them to .500, though. Gotta keep going.
  11. So Carrasco's 8.56 ERA went UP a tick tonight. Awesome. And once again the lumber snoozes.
  12. Just remember that the knock on Sanchez from his Yankme days is that he is a defensively challenged catcher, and passed balls are a specialty. MFYs rode his bat for as long as they could and were willing to pay the price defensively. When he stopped hitting, he stopped playing.
  13. Sooooo.......sellers at the trade deadline? This team is lifeless.
  14. Vientos is hitting the crap out of the ball but is defensively challenged. I wouldn't want to see him play a position more than occasionally. Mauricio, also hitting the crap out of the ball, is probably more position-flexible, but you've got to get rid of someone else to get him in the lineup. McNeil/Lindor/Baty aren't going anywhere. Perhaps subbing McNeil for Canha in left and plunking Mauricio at second, I dunno. This team needs some shaking up, and these are hopefully two guys who can do it.

Probably another hour or so if they're willing to wait that long. Seems like you put some distance between yourselves and the ballpark. Two good Mediterranean restaurants around there: Mama Ayesha's and Lebanese Taverna. At least, I hope they're still there. Stop in if so. Jr lives in Woodley Park. Lebanese Taverna and Mama Ayesha's are both still there and are both delicious in their own way. There's been a lot of restaurant upheaval in the neighborhood, but those have survived. Got Federalist Pig for lunch over in Adams Morgan before the rain moved in. Awesome barbecue (chef's kiss).
  16. Not exactly sold on Senga yet. They're going to burn out this bullpen at this rate of use. Pitchers have to go for more than 5 innings, something they haven't really been able to do yet.The hitting has been atrocious pretty much up and down the lineup, too. This all needs to get fixed soon or we'll be looking at The Worst Team Money Can Buy 2.0.
  17. They suspended the game and will play it tomorrow as part of a split doubleheader. Except that we have brunch reservations for Mother's Day at that time, so we lose everything. What a bunch of steaming bullshit. At least we didn't stay there in the rain for 4 1/2 hours to hear it.

  19. Rain is lightening somewhat, but looks like there's heavier stuff on the way.
  20. If not for this sudden rain delay, they woulda hadda bring out an oxygen tank for Vogelbach, who went first to third. Lefty Jr said, "At least he didn't fall down."
  21. They're using a years' worth of Diamond Dry already.
  22. Conditions have deteriorated into a steady windy rain. Ick.
  23. =MFS62 post_id=125315 time=1684000096 user_id=60] I can understand wanting to put as many lefty hitters in the lineup as possible, but if I were manager I'd only substitute Perez for Alvarez at gunpoint. Later
  24. Just sprinkly around DC right now, so hoping for the best. And hoping the Mets get more than a sprinkling of runs.
