  1. Rules for coming into a bases-loaded situation: !) Don't issue a 4-pitch walk. 2) Don't get exponentially worse from there.
  2. Holy shimoly, Carrasco is unwatchable. 89 pitches in 3 innings.
  3. There seems to be some ambiguity here. If she's 14, she doesn't look it. And she's drinking and driving (together) and has a baby already. That's a lot of living for only 14. Not defending pedophiles, but there's a non-zero chance this is an extortion since her mom seems to be the source of the story. I would imagine right now that there is some furious investigating going on by MLB.
  4. I told myself I wasn't going to watch any of these games against the Braves, and I haven't. But holy shit, this is embarrassing. I'm putting away all my Met gear for the year; I don't want to be humiliated in public. Then I realized I have tickets to Wednesday's matinee. Getting ready to cut eye holes in some brown paper bags.
  5. https://twitter.com/MetsHRADay/status/1687500894915682304 Ike Davis, easily forgotten, had a sweet swing I was at that game, in pretty good box seats on the first base side. A fun moment I haven't thought about for a while.
  6. 5 through 9 in that order is, um, less than impressive. Carrasco is kind of a downward swirly all by himself.
  7. Blind squirrel finds nut. Film at 11.
  8. With this team, Ernie Banks would pray for a rainout.
  9. From MLB: Clubs that are $40 million or more above the threshold shall have their highest selection in the next Rule 4 Draft moved back 10 places unless the pick falls in the top six. In that case, the team will have its second-highest selection moved back 10 places instead.
  10. Well, that Steve Cohen pep talk really worked, didn't it?
  11. Ooh, that Elizabeth Warren one was cold. The Mets traded for 4 shortstops, but at a young age the best players are shortstops. Hell, Jacob deGrom was a shortstop. Eventually they grow into their bodies and become third basemen or second basemen or outfielders. Not really too concerned about a 17-or 18-year-old's position; I'm concerned whether they can hit and are reasonably athletic. This is NOTHING like 1977. The Seaver trade ripped my heart out. The Scherzer trade was, "Wow, cool, we got Ronald Acuna's little brother".
  12. I always cringed when he came in but Buck kept going to him anyway.
  13. About the only Met who overperformed this year.
  14. The return is Jeremy Rodriguez, a 17-year-old shortstop. Guess we won't know how this trade pans out for a while. The pitching staff for the next 2+ months is going to be devastatingly awful.
  15. Good guy, but ultimately disposable in the scheme of things. Enjoyed his food.
  16. =ashie62 post_id=133360 time=1690763710 user_id=90] Get younger players
  17. I don't think Ohtani is coming but they've already cleared some salary and could clear more in Verlander. I think they'll reload; and money won't be the object for Big O, it's whether he wants to stay on the west coast. As long as Cohen is willing to spend, they'll always be a contender.
  18. Well, teenagers rarely end up at the position they start at. Basically two lottery picks, ranked 18th and 21st in the Miami system. If there was any doubt, they're throwing in the towel. Back up the truck.
  19. Sell what you can, get what you can get, reload in the offseason. Uncle Steve's willingnes to eat salary would hopefully improve the return.
  20. The 2000 team I feel wasn't as good as the 1999 version. 2006 was the most complete offensive team. Their pitching injuries let them down at the end. They could have won the World Series that year if they'd gotten past game 7 against the Cards. 2015 was 6 magical weeks from Cespedes, followed by 10 magical days from Daniel Murphy. That magic didn't show up in the World Series, though. 2022 was a disappointment all around, just not showing up when they needed it the most. I'd roll with 2006, followed closely by 2015.
  21. =ashie62 post_id=132234 time=1689849469 user_id=90] Phillies and Marlins lost 7 back of Philly
  22. This was the kind of game I was expecting them to play a lot of in 2023. Good pitching, adequate offense. But these kind of games have been few and far between.
  23. =nymr83 post_id=132217 time=1689813386 user_id=54] lets hope Verlander can give he pen a good rest after Carrasco hung em out to dry last night
  24. It was a win, but dayum. Almost felt like a loss. The 2023 Met formula; short start by Carrasco, punctuated by crappy bullpen work. Fortunately they outhit their pitching this time.
