  1. Occupying the Luis Guillorme roster spot, I'd expect.
  2. Ugh. Hope I'm wrong about him, but I'm not optimistic.

  4. Boy, with all the money Steve has you'd think he'd make her taller.
  5. 3 or 4 more David Wright-ish years and he would have had a puncher's chance of getting in. But alas. Hope he at least gets the 5% to hang around another year.
  6. I have to admit it was her idea. I was all, "What if they're ten games under .500 and Alonso and Lindor are hurt and the pitching sucks again?" And she was, "Let's do it anyway." Meanwhile Jr. was like, "I'm in if you're paying."
  7. We got tickets to both games. Going with the missus and Lefty Jr. We're in center field so I don't know what kind of a view it'll be, but it's all about the experience. And we love London, so this was a perfect excuse to go. Also taking a side trip to Wrexham just for the hell of it.
  8. Soroka's certainly a buy-low candidate. Can see why the Braves tired of him but as one of 5 players for Aaron Freaking Bummer? Hmm. Sox are so screwed up right now that he might actually be able to get his mojo back in a low-pressure environment.
  9. No. NO. NO! They need pitchers who will be good in 2024, not 2017.
  10. Is he handy with a trash can?
  11. Looks like he could snap Craig Counsell like a twig.
  12. I'd think the Padres would want at least a few top-notch prospects. They gave away a MLB-ready SS in CJ Abrams, and a MLB-ready starter in Mackenzie Gore, plus minor-leaguers who may or may not pan out. Luke Voit, too, who the Mets had briefly in the minors. So my guess is they'll try to minimize their losses on the transaction. Yes, he's another year closer to FA, but lotsa teams will be calling. I think the Mets should shy away, especially if there's potential damage to the farm.

  14. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I'm wondering now if they don't go looking for takers on Alonso and just go scorched earth on the rebuild. They need an awful lot of talent, and an awful lot to go right, just to compete next year. Their 'scorched earth' was the trade deadline deals last year. I don't think there's an appetite for more of that with a new PBO and manager. I think they'll add (they certainly have to do something about the rotation at least).
  15. Seems like he was well liked within the Yankme organization. Speaks Spanish, so there's that. Sounds like Steans wants a manager he can control, especially since they haven't hired a GM yet. Hope he keeps Cora as the third base coach. The rest can go, Hefner included.
  16. It's such a high-stress job I'm surprised ANYBODY makes it for a year and a half.
  17. Enjoy the $185 million, Jacob. Steve Cohen moved on and so did I.
  18. I haven't listened to him in any format for 20 years. I've retired from HIM.
  19. The off-season can now officially commence. Find me a new manager, Stoins!
  20. I'm not the least invested in either of these teams. I'm kinda 51-49 D'backs, I guess, just because I'm an NL fan. It's always fun when announcers praise Scherzer to the heavens about what a competitor and bulldog he is right before he gives up a 3-run homer. I expect that'll happen sometime in this series.

  23. Yeah, I'm meeting with a Phillie fan friend on Thursday, and it'd be really nice if the D'backs did them in tonight.
