  1. Maybe they could install a combination whirlpool/polygraph in the training room.
  2. Yeah, now that he's in the National League, he'll have 'plate appearances' that aren't 'all you can eat'.
  3. Unfortunately, every time he's in a slump we'll never know if he's hiding an injury or just sucks.
  4. '3 years of on-air experience needed' will most likely weed out the wannabes. Does my college radio station count?
  5. Checked with my doctor and I'm cleared to play catch as well. Now if only I could get rid of this damned snow.

  7. Thor, since he swings a big hammer, is really more for a batter than a pitcher.
  8. Let things play out. I seriously doubt they're making a run, so the percentages would tell you that you should keep all the young pitchers on their time lines and innings limits. It'll mean more Lannan/Matsuzaka/Whoever in meaningless games. I'd rather keep my young talent on track than screw around with them on the off chance they might be competing for a playoff spot. But that's just me. Oh, and a cute bunny.
  9. Looks more like the Stay-Puf Marshmallow Man.
  10. Just put fifteen minutes of moaning and weeping sound effects at either end and you're done.
  11. I wish Jeff Wilpon was a couple of years away. Light-years, that is.
  12. Stay tuned tomorrow for the Ike Davis 'best shape of his life' article.
  13. If I'm Stephen Drew, I'm a little antsy right about now. I still don't think he comes to the Mets, but wherever he signs it'll probably be for less than he could have gotten a month ago.
  14. Wonder how many Yankee fans have already made hotel reservations for the Cooperstown area for 5 years from now?
  15. There was a moment where a couple of the younger kids in the audience were scared, but it passed quickly. My son went to see it with some college buddies and they loved it, too.
  16. batmagadanleadoff wrote: The first thing they do is get Franco in the booth. Then it's just a matter of time before the Mets are back in the ugly blacks. It's a very slippery slope. Then they pair him with Al Leiter. It'd be fun if they did a game where Scott Kazmir was pitching.
  17. More time for Jeff Wilpon to talk John Franco into taking the job.
  18. It's scary that they took so long to do the only sensible thing. It's like they examined every stupid option and somehow they didn't work out, so they were forced to do the right thing because time was running out.
  19. This farewell tour will make the Mariano sideshow look like an afterthought. Jeter may pull a gluteal muscle from all the ass-kissing that'll be going on.
  20. So is it okay to root for a season-ending injury in game 2 of the season?
  21. My wife and I went, childless, to see it with a theater full of kids. We both loved it. I had a bit of a problem with the ending, but I nitpick. The kids just absolutely ate it up. The visuals are just amazing. You really start believing these are Lego people walking, talking, and flying. The pop-culture references are hilarious, and there's plenty there for adults too.
  22. 2000, because it was the goddam Yankees. Think of how easy it would be to shut down obnoxious Yankee fans forever if only they had beaten them the one time they met. It was there for the taking, they just didn't take it. This would have worked for 1999 as well, but there would have been an extra layer of playoffs to undo.
  23. In his new movie, he plays second fiddle to Muppets. Ty shouldn't spring for the beachfront house in Malibu just yet.
  24. Now THAT's an engaged fan base. The Met truck probably slipped out in the dead of night with Jay Horwitz at the wheel.
