  1. Perdneme mientras vomito.
  2. He couldn't have saved him if he was a slow ground ball up the middle, though.
  3. I hear his cufflinks cure cancer.
  4. While I wasn't a huge fan of Turner's I never saw him dogging it intentionally. Played every infield position without embarrassing himself. Didn't hit much, but wasn't Tejadaesque either. I'm guessing he'll go to the Braves, kick our ass with a late-inning pinch hit, then sneak up into the owner's box and hit Jeff Wilpon with a shaving cream pie. In which case, it would be worth it.
  5. Hell, sign him. I'd rather see Fidel himself play short instead of Ruben Tejada.
  6. Clark's a smart, articulate guy. It'll be interesting to see how he handles the truckload of stuff he's going to have to deal with.

  8. Wow, that's some awesomely stupid money for Ellsbury. If they get two full good years out of him I'll be surprised.
  9. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yeah I like Fister. The Tigers are always making daring trades, I guess the hope here is this one blows up in the Nats' face. Fister pitched pretty well against the Mets in the game that featured Dice-K's self-immolating debut...I think this is a solid pickup for the Nats.
  10. Boy, I don't want to think about paying Cano $20 million or so when he's 37 or 38. That can only end badly. Someone else will jump in and force the Yanx to overpay. I'd rather it wasn't the Mets.
  11. The scariest number there is that Omar Quintanilla had 359 plate appearances for the Mets in 2013.
  12. Crazy.........and well-armed. Not an especially good combination.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Ricky Nolasco - Twins, 4 years. And 49 million reasons for Nicky to be thankful. Suddenly, I find myself wondering if the Mets will ever become free-spenders like the Twins.
  14. David has 130 million reasons to be happy, as long as the checks don't bounce.
  15. It's about being too old to start over now.
  16. Admitting Phil Rizzuto was the shark-jumping point. It went from the 'Hall of Fame' to the 'Hall of the Pretty Good'. You could probably put 15 people in and a case could be made for each. Right now, there's a hissy fit going on against overtly muscular guys, but I expect this will gradually dissipate over the next few years. There are exceptions, the ones that the writers have decided have lied to them- Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Palmiero. Palmiero gets extra negative bonus points for lying to the US Congress. The ones who are highly suspect but never conclusively proven, such as Bagwell, will get in eventually. By that logic, Mussina gets in at some point, even if he wasn't a Yankme.
  17. When my son was 6, he thought he was the coolest player ever, and we got him a #5 Shinjo shirt that he wore everywhere. He tried hopping when he would catch a ball. For him, it did not work. Still have that shirt up in the attic someplace.
  18. Face it kids, this is the Mets. D'arnaud starts, Recker backs him up, Centeno if anyone gets hurt. They're not paying anybody much to be the backup- that's money that can be underspent elsewhere.
  19. Piazza, Gl@v!ne, Biggio, Maddux. Big Hurt waits a year.
  20. Thanks, I'll be here all week. Try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitresses.
  21. I've been in a lot of bars with his brother Kar.
  22. $25 million can buy a lot of lucky underwear.
  23. "It is high, It is far ..... It is..... GONE! It's another McCannon shot! Oh Brian, you've got them cryin!!!!"
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The Mets need to do whatever it takes to reacquire Jose Reyes to make up for the way they bumbled Jaff Decker. The way I look at it, Rubin was talking Laffy Jaffy up so that the Pirates would take notice, thereby forcing them to expose someone on their 40-man that was the ACTUAL player the Mets need. Kind of a Jedi mind trick. Maybe he should have taken Omar's job after all.
  25. In Hollywood, they bury all traces of dogs like this out in the desert somewhere.
