  1. He'll be up and down all year. 2 wins, a save, a 4.5 ERA, and 30,000 frequent flier miles on Southwest Airlines.
  2. This year's Carlos Torres. Long guy, occasional start, spends most of his time spitting sunflower seeds in the bullpen. A couple of wins and ERA around 4.
  3. Pitches decently, 11 wins, 3.9 ERA, 180 innings, because it's always something.
  4. The problem is that the person they'd have batting 9th could easily be a .200 hitter. What's Carlos Zambrano doing these days?
  5. I bet my brother-in-law that he'd hit 15 homers, so he'd better. .255 16-55. Nothing flashy, but good enough.
  6. With at least 4 other players already competing for 3 spots, Matt will be seeing entirely too much Celine Dion and Cirque de Soleil this summer. Not a factor except in garbahge time in September. Less than 50 AB's with miniscule stats.
  7. .210 5-20, gets traded by June. Would be happy to be incorrect, but his trajectory is just wrong.
  8. If anyone ever hit Jeter with a shaving cream pie, would the world as we know it cease to exist? Or does he have a pie-repellent force field that would deflect it before it arrived at its target? I guess we'll never know.
  9. Spends weeks wandering around the back fields at St. Lucie, constantly adjusting his glasses, muttering and cursing about the issues of the day, occasionally showering teammates with flecks of spittle, until the Mets discover they'd actually traded for LEWIS Black. He's immediately sent to Aruba.
  10. If I ever see someone in one of those shirts I will give them an Atomic Wedgie.
  11. Sterling's going to miss him. No A-bombs this year, either.

  13. Frayed Knot wrote: Wheeler's spring debut: 3 IP, 2 hits, 3 Ks, 0 walks, 0 runs Curious to know if he threw a lot of pitches. That's a part of the game he needs to work on.
  14. Just wondering if there are any interns under the table when he's announcing, just to make him feel at home.
  15. Zvon wrote: Zvon wrote: We're in the 9th, score 4-4 Mets. Ugh. Why did I even say that? 5-4 Dirty Nat Boys 90 wins, my ass.
  16. I would rather have low expectations for this team and have them exceed them, than have high expectations for this team and have them fall way short. It makes for a better summer. I'm a Mets fan, I'm used to having early season hopes crushed like a grape. So I tend not to get too far out ahead of things.
  17. 90 wins? They made a movie about that.
  18. Well, now he can get back to running the Port Authority.
  19. Is it because he ate a calf?
  20. "I just wanted to simplify things. So I went back to what worked for me in (high school/the minors/previous team where I was good)."
  21. I take your boss' numbers. No way Granderson does 31/111 on this team in this stadium.
  22. If I was selling tickets and a guy said his favorite moment was Piazza flying out to end the 2000 World Series, I would thank him for his time, hang up, and leave him with his d*ck in his hand since he obviously got a little arousal out of this roleplay.
  23. "That flaxseed oil has done wonders for my strength and conditioning."
  24. Well, the guy was a bit of a douche. I get those calls every year because I had a ticket plan from 06-09. I tell them gently that I'm not going to start again. They understand, and they move on. Next year I'll get a call again.
