  1. Some books are harder than others.
  2. Wow, DeGrom is kinda special.
  3. Not a surprise. Soup is the designated 3B backup. You don't want to play Murphy at third his first game back.
  4. d'Kong76 wrote: That emphysema commercial sucks. You know, I've listening to him lately and he sounds like he's getting a little better.
  5. 2015 will be the beginning of the Post-Jeter era, and there should be a drinking game where you take a shot for every time Sterling and Waldman mention his name in a season he's not playing in. And don't take Opening Day, take a random game against the White Sox in July. I bet you'll pass out before the sixth inning. Michael Kay will perform this duty on the TV side as well. They'll be bereft without The Captain.
  6. Herrera will ride the pine. Murphy will start most games and Herrera will be a defensive replacement and spot starter. They won't put him at short because they want Flores to play there every day. Murphy has to play for the trade value if nothing else. I expect he'll be gone over the winter and the Dilson Herrera Era, for better or worse, will begin.
  7. Edgy MD wrote: Predicting tomorrow's tabloid headlines tonight. CURTIS BLOW!! Or, " HEY ROCKIES!! WATCH ME PULL A RABBIT OUT OF MY HAT!!!" OK, maybe that's a wide tabloid.
  8. I don't think Jeter's capable of being embarrassed by the pomposity of it all. He saw Mariano get his farewell tour, and he wanted a bigger, better, and more ass-kissing one. He got it. I can't wait for Joe Buck to say at the World Series, "It would have been much better if this could have been Derek Jeter's farewell." And then...wait for it...they'll cut to a long loving shot of St. Jeter in the VIP section in a pinstriped down coat. The DiMaggio comparison is spot-on. Joe was very protective about his image as the Greatest Living Player, and was an SOB to those who didn't play along.
  9. I heard Jeter visited a sick kid in a hospital yesterday and promised him that he'd hit a weak ground ball to third just for him. And he did. It's a miracle, I tells ya.
  10. Call them later that day and say you didn't get the paper and ask for a refund, including the $1 extra. Then set the section on fire on your front lawn and take pictures.
  11. What exactly constitutes a 'porous road trip'? Were they suddenly more permeable to liquids than before?
  12. In my office, I have a small Jason Giambi bobblehead. It's mounted upside down (by Velcro), it has a face that's been burned and melted, and it has a nail in its ear. It has a cartoon bubble that says "Mommy!" This is all courtesy of my 8-year-old (at the time). He made his Dad proud. And Yankee fans who visit my office always comment in wonder and amazement at the unbridled hatred on display.
  13. Corey Hart. Looks like a human assembled from a kit by a 10-year-old. Always had big hits against the Mets when in a Sudsmaker uniform. Plus there were all those bad '80's songs. So who's the unholy Padre?
  14. I love that the Yankees are locked into this death cycle of having to play Jeter at short every day and bat him second even though there are better lineup options. And it would be sweet if they missed the wild card by a game in doing so.
  15. Phil Hughes. He still got that Yankee Stank. Who would you not buy a beer for on the Brewers?
  16. It's just kind of creepy wearing a uniform with a patch celebrating your own retirement. But the possibilities are endless. A vintage 2001-03 Texas A-Rod jersey with a patch that says 'Maxed out on Steroids' A 1998 Todd Hundley jersey with a patch that says 'Playing Horribly Out of Position' A 2014 Curtis Granderson jersey that says 'Don't Throw me Curveballs Low and Away'. A 2003 Tom Glavine jersey that says 'All in All, I'd Rather be in Atlanta' And Giancarlo Stanton could wear one saying, 'Show Me The Money!!!'
  17. Don Meredith is standing by the light switch.
  18. My fear is that he takes a page from Jason Bay's book instead......
  19. You know Granderson is going bad when Gary is cheering his hard foul balls.
  20. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Did something bad happen at Curtis Granderson bobblehead night? Yup. Curtis Granderson was in the lineup.
  21. Penny won't be throwing at anybody; he's hanging on by his fingernails. Fortunately he's facing the Nerf bats of the Metropolitan lineup.
  22. It's like both teams were managed by Dallas Green. I'm guessing the Japanese set the bar a little higher for child abuse.
