  1. This is dangerous for me, as I may not be able to stop. *********** ***********

His team is cashing in for a reason. He's embarrassed them couple of times. He picked up a sexual assault charge a few years ago, he was thrown under the bus by his manager for only having his head in the game "80-85% of the time," and has been benched a handful of times for not hustling. He also ended the season injured, and his durability had probably been his best asset. While he's coming off possibly his best offensive season, he's not really progressing. Defensively, he brings about 1/3 of what Alexi Ramirez offers. His running game has been on the shelf. The Cubs are terrible for a reason. Let's not help them trade their way out the basement. This. They want to get rid of Castro because they have replacements and he's a bit of an attitude problem. This is exactly the kind of guy you don't want to a) bring to New York, where the spotlight shines a lot brighter, and bring to a team with a lot of young players on the verge of competing. I would imagine that Joe Maddon will have a lot of input with Theo as to how the Cubs are constructed, and Castro doesn't play the way Maddon likes. So I'm guessing he'll be out one way or the other; I'd prefer it wasn't us overpaying for him.
  3. Camo uniforms look bad even on cute newlyweds.
  4. He'll play every day. Terry will ride him until the wheels fall off and then he'll ride him some more. They're not paying him $21 million not to play. See Young, Christopher.
  5. 2 years, $21 million. Still need a shortstop. This can't be all you do, Sandy.
  6. When Thor comes up, I'd like to see them give away hammers. Hey, it'd be different.
  7. $2 million is 'take a flyer' territory. They signed Marlon Byrd for less.
  8. Boy, I missed this one..... In 2000, the team gave away a 24-page comic book featuring a villain named Larcenous Vein, who planned to blow up a No. 7 subway train, but was defeated by Mets players. It just so happened that during the previous offseason, Atlanta Braves reliever John Rocker made headlines with derogatory remarks about the diversity in New York City, referencing the different people a visitor might encounter on the No. 7 train. Its a coincidence, Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said when asked whether Larcenous Vein was Rockers alter ego. The idea was conceived a long time ago.
  9. Plenty of other teams have done growth charts. The Phillies did one in 2013 with Ben Revere, for example. Tigers did a Doug Fister growth Chart in 2012.

Hand him an invite and hand him some clothes A country-west past? He's got one of those Makes hisself at home and hangs out in his briefs He goes to squat while suckin' his teefs So listen up children, and hear me tell The sad, sweet story of Johnny Monell To the Series he thought he would take us But instead he's rolling snake-eyes in Vegas.
  11. Upside: He's not Ruben Tejada.
  12. Well, the problem is not only are they derivative, they're late to the party and stingy. Notice that with the exception of the T-shirts which everyone gets, the giveaways are for just the first 15,000 fans? Used to be the first 25,000 fans. Even last year some of the giveaways were for the first 20,000 fans. Maybe they don't want any left over inventory. Or they're trying to drive up the value of the garden gnomes on eBay. Yes, I know every giveaway is sponsored by somebody and they're paying for it, but it's just annoying.
  13. I took my 7-month old son to Opening Day in early April when it was 40 degrees and drizzling. If they want to be Met fans, they need to learn to survive adversity at an early age.
  14. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I am always completely indifferent to the BP uni's, but I would like to launch a full-scale Obama drone attack on those horrendous camouflage things. Seconded. I've never met anyone who likes the camouflage Mets jerseys. And the jerseys and hats together are just frickin' hideous. Late 80's script gets an honorable mention, but they finish second to the camo. Can't we find a better way to honor the troops than this?

  16. Frayed Knot wrote: ... you could even have velcro patches and the like. Then, when changing a pitcher who was getting bombed or removing a guy who just made a costly error in the field, instead of just sending a replacement out, the manager could march out there and rip the team logo insignias right off the jersey and send the player off the field in disgrace. Or maybe make the player wait out there for his substitute at which point he'd have to rip his own patches off and place them on the shoulder of his replacement in a changing of the guards type of situation. Needless to say, trades and demotions would now have their own video-worthy moments as patches, numbers, logos, etc. are removed from the fallen soldier. I think you may be onto something here. Former Brooklyn Dodger Chuck Connors shows you how it's done.
  17. Well, if nothing else he can back up the Naked Cowboy in Times Square.
  18. The opening filmed with Ralph, Lindsey and Bob on the field was funny, because they only had one microphone and kept having to hand it around. Ralph sitting on a stack of tires talking about Getty gas was priceless. And the ad for the luxurious 1974 Chrysler New Yorker that looked like it got about 6 miles to the gallon and came with its own zip code......
  19. So what if deGrom decides to go with a buzz-cut in Spring Training? What do they do with the Garden Gnome then?
  20. Dear god, no. I'd rather re-sign Chris Young than trade for Victorino.
  21. So I guess the NL Players Award is kind of like the People's Choice Awards, then.
  22. "Other job in the organization" means "Keep quiet and we'll keep paying you".
  23. Not so sure about the '<'. Angels love Calhoun and they have no obvious candidate to replace him (they traded away Peter Bourjos and Randal Chichuk to the Cards to make room for him). Gold Glove finalist in RF so he plays it well. Don't see the upside for the Angels here. They need pitching but they can pry that away other ways. He'd be a great fit but it ain't happening.
  24. Nimmo's not ready. Take one year of Cespedes and call me in the morning.
