  2. Well, you can take credit for having good taste in beer....

Seemed to try too hard with a 99-MPH fastball on his next-to-last pitch, and OF COURSE dropped the hammer for strike three on his next pitch. Syndertime. Harvey hit 99 on the gun? yup. Maybe it's running fast. Howie said he the stadium gun read 104 on the second pitch.
  4. [fimg=500:1xqi1fx2]http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/6/9/2/104807692/cuts/Noah_qkvz9h30_r6vym98l.JPG[/fimg:1xqi1fx2] Let's hope Daniel Murphy never sees this.
  5. I'm betting all of Billy Bean's teammates thought they never had a gay teammate either.
  6. [extreme overreaction]90 wins, baby![/extreme overreaction]
  7. Billy seems just a mite condescending there. I don't agree with Murphy at all, but there's a bit of the 'if he just grows up a bit he'll get it' tone to those comments. Dunno. Maybe reading too much into it. Wish this would all go away.
  8. In play, run(s) I missed this all winter.
  9. I'm pretty sure they asked 20 guys their opinion, and 19 of them said "Yeah, sure, no problem", which doesn't fill column inches. So when Murph gave his answer they had something to write. In fact, he's fairly well known as a devout Christian, so they may have sought him out for that reason, knowing that the others would probably give them mumbled 'whatever' answers. Probably much ado about nothing, though.
  10. 'Tongue firmly in cheek' is a turn of phrase you might not want to use in this context.
  11. (Sandy crosses 'San Francisco Giants' off deadline trade possibility list)
  12. Hope he wasn't playing any music in the clubhouse that [crossout:2arnpi4i]Franco and Leiter[/crossout:2arnpi4i] Wright and Parnell didn't like.
  13. So I'm guessing it was both Be Nice to Gay People Day and Trumpet Your Christianity Day in PSL today. Glad they got that over before the games start. My question would be....what would happen if Daniel Murphy were trapped in an elevator with Richard Simmons?
  14. Think he'll get a shot and do well in limited action. There'll be an injury or a trade and he'll be 4-2,3.00. This will set up next offseason where more trade rumors will swirl. It'll be hard to crack the Harvey/DeGrom/Wheeler/Syndegaard/Matz rotation, though.
  15. For every Hairston there's a Gary Matthews Jr. or an Eric Young Jr. He'll be nothing special in limited playing time. 5/20/.245
  16. Much ado about nothing. There are only 25 players on the team at any given time. 21 numbers are retired. That leaves 53 to play with, if you don't use zero. Matt Reynolds wore #5 last spring, and nobody got bent out of shape, least of all David Wright. So the Yankees have 2 #78's in camp one year. Big whoop.
  17. Fences will help slightly but age will hurt slightly. So he'll be roughly where he was last year. 20/65/.225
  18. I was hoping they'd unmask him and he'd turn out to be Jeff Wilpon.
  19. Murph won't be a sub. It's obvious they're not going to re-sign him, so it only makes sense he gets traded at the deadline. Dilson comes up and performs reasonably well, especially considering his age. 5/21/.260 (and a vastly improved infield defense).

Later That's pretty much where I wind up. Maybe fewer XBH, and if given permission to run will easily have 20 SB. His OBP will be more in the .320 range, though, so he won't be an ideal leadoff guy.
  21. 11-8; 3.56, takes a few breaks during the year and is shut down early. First year back he'll be on a short leash.
  22. It's kinda scary that you could go 10 deep with the pitching staff. Good scary.
  23. Fman99 wrote: Finally! http://web.sny.tv/teams/tvschedule.jsp?oid=36018 Looks like the first game is Friday, 3/6 at 1 PM. I assume it will also be replayed that evening, at least, I hope that to be the case. SNY will probably show college basketball instead.
