  1. Wright. Harvey can vanish off the face of the earth and their starting pitching will still be decent, with more waiting in the wings. But this team has to hit, and that starts with The Captain. If he's on point, everybody else in that lineup will be better.
  2. I'm not sabermetrically inclined, so the relative WAR doesn't interest me. What interested me at the time was the fact that my team went out and got an ace. Not just a maybe ace, but the real deal. Now, it didn't work out in the end (long-term contracts rarely do), but I was in the stands on the second-to-last day of 2008, when Johan pitched a 3-hit shutout on a bad knee on a day when his team absolutely had to win. That's ace stuff. Gomez took forever to develop. He'd probably have been traded for something less valuable eventually. I do this deal every day and twice on Sunday. Yes, even knowing what I know now. I probably would have stocked up on some extra bullpen arms, too, because then Johan could have pitched in the playoffs.
  3. Tiger shot an 82 yesterday. That's Pedro Feliciano-on-the Yankees bad. Of course, it's better than me on my best day, but......
  4. I'll be celebrating this instead.
  5. the buyer will get a monthly check from the Mets for $8,891.82 over the next 18-plus years. Boy, they owe me that just for all the pain and suffering they've inflicted on me over the years.
  6. Worked for me. Asked this young woman once why she had such a great tan in early April. She said it was because she and her girlfriends were just back from a week at Mets Spring Training. Ka-ching. This March will be our 25th anniversary. No website required.

  8. "Sorry Dillon, it was either you or an upgraded scoreboard."
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Lefty Specialist seems to think it was a "WTF" maneuver. I haven't advocated for anybody. The thing I advocate for is for a fan base having more sense than the to get agitated about another silly fake scandal because Mets. I guess I needed to clarify. I think it was a 'What The Fucking Fuck' maneuver, which technically would be a "WTFF" maneuver. It's not a scandal, just tone-deaf stupidity. I wonder if Frank McCourt ever got to head the committee. I'm guessing no.
  10. I mean, there must have been some other committee he could have headed, like the Fan Relations Committee or the Uniform Rules Committee or the Nepotism Committee. Heading the Finance committee just screams 'WTF'.
  11. DeGrom named his mother Tammy and said, Dont worry, Ill be household tomorrow."
  12. Anybody who boos Flores on opening day gets such a noogie.
  13. Yeah, I've heard he was supplying Piazza with Miracle-Gro.

  15. Considering California real estate these days, $789,000 for that place isn't exactly overpriced. It'd be a hoot if some Met fan bought the place.
  16. Well, anyone who has 'wilpon' in their twitter account is asking for trouble eventually. My son, who is not the progeny of anyone of the slightest note, knew better than to put his last name on the Twitter account he opened at the tender age of 16 (and tweeted on exactly 4 times). It doesn't justify on-line abuse, but jeez, ya gotta be careful out there, Amanda.
  17. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: See, the key for me is, six injured... but none critically. I mean, you can't give up Syndergaard for that kind of accuracy. Kinda lends a whole new meaning to 'he's got a gun for an arm'.
  18. Well, maybe now we can get him without giving up too much.
  19. One thing you can't hep but notice, though, is that Thor has arms like tree trunks.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Well if he hasn't been dealt already then we have to do so soon because once this picture gets around we'd probably be lucky to get a single-A hopeful for him. 21. d'Kong76 wrote: Steinbrenner's hording Germans? Hmmm. Forget it, he's rolling.
  22. If it's straight up with no salary relief it doesn't happen. If there's salary relief enough to make it manageable for the Coupons, the price in prospects in addition to Thor will be such that it doesn't happen. So, checkmate. There'll be lots of talk, but Wilmer's your shortstop come Opening Day.
