  1. It was like coming this close to your dreams... and then watch them brush past you like strangers in a crowd. You know, we just don't recognize the most significant moments of our lives while they're happening. Back then I thought, well, there'll be other days. I didn't realize that that was the only day.
  2. Edgy MD wrote: I disagree pretty readily that the team's biggest offseason need is or was starting pitching. Yeah, I'd place the 'campfire in the tinder-dry forest' bullpen as Job 1.
  3. Hmm. I guess Wacha is the swing man out of the bullpen now? Porcello's on the toboggan ride downhill, too. I dunno, I'm confused.
  4. I feel better with Wacha at $3 mil + incentives than I do with $9 mil. But he's still a dumpster dive. This is a team that had no major injuries to their starting rotation, had the Cy Young award winner, the major league top home run hitter, and still only won 86 games. The odds that those three events all reoccur in 2020 is small. So getting worse when you swap out Wheeler for Wacha in a division that's been loading up is not exactly a recipe for success. Steve Cohen can't get here fast enough.
  5. Rendon says "I hate you!" to his awful teammates; that he is happy to leave the ignorant, front-running fans; and then says, "I don't want to play any longer in such a bland stadium with idiots for TV announcers" and leaves town. Or perhaps it was the money. lol
  6. A Boy Named Seo wrote: We've got a winner if he can only reverse the career-low velocity and K/9, and the career-high ERA, FIP, xFIP and SIERA. On the bright side, he will make $9M. Wait, what did we do? Really. Wacha is dreck. Had potential once, but no more.
  7. Now I know how to spell "I Can't Hit" in Korean. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EK9FK1nUUAAVyh5?format=jpg&name=small>
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Rumor has it that the Pirates would also take on Jed Lowrie and his contract. Ding, ding, ding! Make a bad trade to cover up your bad free-agent signing.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Whoah, hey, not cool. You're counting his performance with the Giants (0-for-1) and the Phillies (1-for-29) against his record, when in fact, these outputs helped the Mets. By comparison, his 4-for-31 (.129 / .200 / .258 // .458) run with the Mets was positively robust. His lone home run came with the Mets as a pinch-hitter (vertreter) in his very first appearance with the team. Welp, I stand corrected. He can play in the Demilitarized Zone, then.
  10. Surprised you found a picture of him in action because he really did nothing at all. I mean really. Nothing. .082, or 5 hits in 61 AB's. If he's going to Korea, can I suggest the North?
  11. =41Forever post_id=28113 time=1576070287 user_id=69] Nine years for a pitcher seems insane.
  12. We've already gotten our Christmas present in the slow, agonizing death of the Wilpon Era. It'll be slurry from here on in.
  13. Seems like they're content to coast through these meetings hoping to not be noticed.
  14. =nymr83 post_id=28007 time=1575921165 user_id=54] It's been scientifically proven* that CitiField in April is at least 25% colder than anywhere in the city of New York at the same moment. This post is months old but just cracked me up.
  15. They'll regret that contract. Strasburg is good when he's not injured, but he's injured a lot.
  16. If Cespedes tees up anything in 2020 I'll be surprised, sorry to say.
  17. Enjoy the kimchi, Chris. You won't be missed.
  18. =kcmets post_id=27917 time=1575726769 user_id=53] Folly Rancher cover is pretty funny but I just couldn't click it.
  19. Well, I'm hoping if his kids are rich entitled assholes that they have no interest whatsoever in running the team, but are content to watch the money flow in and let professionals decide on bullpen usage and free agent signings.
  20. This does not displease me.
  21. Just wondering, does Steve Cohen have a dipshit son with delusions of grandeur? I'm hoping not.
  22. Flotsam, meet Jetsam.
  23. Beltran knows him from Houston. I can't get too worked up over the 4th/5th outfielder.
  24. Wait. Time traveling aliens? Can they speed up the 5 years needed to get rid of Jeffy and Fred?
  25. I'm betting that yes, the Wilpons are too highly leveraged to buy out Saul Katz. But here they get to have their cake and eat it too. They're the heads of the franchise for another 5 years, but Cohen pumps more and more money in each year. They cash out with billions, literally. Paging Elizabeth Warren: Cohen is one of the world's more famous art collectors, sometimes spending nine figures on a single work. In 2015, he spent $141.3 million on Alberto Giacometti's “Pointing Man” sculpture — more money than the Mets have ever spent on an individual player's contract.
