  2. I can see them moving the cardboard fans after games. But what if it rains during the game? Or are they not cardboard but made of sterner stuff, like vinyl that won't get destroyed even in a thunderstorm? Inquiring minds want to know.
  3. [FIMG=600]http://thecranepool.net/2020-07-20.png[/FIMG] I took two screen shots of the meeting, both yielding this? Hmmm... Needs more cowbell.
  4. Somewhere on a dusty trophy shelf, Rick Sutcliffe has his Gordon Cobbledick Golden Tomahawk Award. How do you give an acceptance speech for that without cracking up at least once? It was good to see the shadowy figures behind all the screen names! Not a bot in the lot!
  5. Boy, never saw this coming. Jed Lowrie Placed on IL
  6. Shawn Hare and Frank Seminara. Both appeared only in the 1994 season where the plug was pulled and no champion was crowned. Still Metly, wherever they may be. Plus they had to wear those butt-ugly script uniforms, the least Metly unis of all (with the exception of the Mercury Mets). Even if they play 5 games, the stats will count. But I'm getting a growing feeling that things will go south and MLB will desperately try to keep things going, moving the Blue Jays to Buffalo and the Marlins to god-knows-where and letting kids who have no right to be on a major league field play in games because real major leaguers are sick.
  7. Just looking at how that game was played, there's no way baseball's going to complete this season. Yankee players were high-fiving. Virtually no one was wearing masks or social distancing. I don't see how they're getting through this season without multiple outbreaks, especially with two teams in Florida and two in Texas. Hope I' m wrong, but......
  8. When that ERA hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's Zamora.
  9. It's weird. There is a constant low crowd noise sound that turns to cheers when something good happens. Porcello was- eh. And there's a Melky Cabrera sighting.
  10. =G-Fafif post_id=40853 time=1595109679 user_id=55] Matt Adams has opted out — as a free agent.
  11. I'm in. I don't know who anybody looks like, so I'll be the one that nobody recognizes.

  14. Jon Gneiss Basalty Parker Chalker Lockett
  15. Yeah, you have to test-drive Brodie for a year even if you're thinking of replacing him. Yeah, the Cano/Diaz trade was a disaster, but he's done some other things right. The fan unfriendliness really needs to be addressed. We're still waiting on refunds for June tickets for a game they knew in April they weren't going to play, and they're saying it could take another 4-6 weeks. Strangely, the money I paid to buy them was transferred immediately. The first even remotely fan-friendly thing they did was the FanFest in January. It was great, but it took them decades to figure out it was a good idea.
  16. Any of these bidders will have billions of dollars at their disposal. Let the best team win, and make sure that SNY is part of the deal so that they can do a multi-part investigation of the Wilpons once the ink is dry. Sort of like 'The Last Dance' only featuring Bernie Madoff.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I think there's a very good chance that the season doesn't finish. I also think there's a decent enough chance that it won't even start. Trying not to get too excited about this 'season' because I fear you're right.
  18. Whose announcers? The Braves announcers were dreadful in the TBS days. Give me Ralph, Tim and Steve Zabriskie. Mrs. Lefty, before we ever met, had a broken arm at the time and couldn't sleep, so she wound up watching the whole thing until 4 AM.
  19. It does seem that MLB is taking a lot of things on faith. Seems inevitable that there's going to be a cluster in at least one team in the next 3 months. And then what?
  20. Fascinating article. If this all works, great.
  21. Every game is going to be super-important; basically 2.7 times as important. No Terry Collins 'Sunday lineups' this season. THIS would be the year to rip off an 11-game win streak.
  22. =Fman99 post_id=39243 time=1593008656 user_id=86] At least the DH will go away for 2021 (though I'm sure it'll be a big sticking point for the next CBA). I can handle 60 DH games. It'll give more ABs to Dom Smith, I'd think.
  23. Only 60 games and you have to play the Blue Jays and Rays 8 times? Ridiculous.
