  1. Root for LA to clinch best record. That gives the Braves nothing to play for on the last weekend. (Although Bobby Cox played for keeps in 1998 in a similar situation). Yeah, they pretty much need to run the table to even have a chance. Put ya plays 'em one at a time.
  2. Brewers win 5-1, pushing the Mets a half game further back.
  3. I'm jealous that he could throw a lollipop strike at 80. After reaching down to pick the ball off the rubber.
  4. Oh, and it'll be in front of 30,000 people.... https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_fill,w_688,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto/shape/cover/sport/Screen-Shot-2019-09-18-at-73147-PM-6a232c17f3bdc364d1a8a6e91b85118c.jpg> https://www.thedailybeast.com/carl-yastrzemski-boston-red-sox-legend-throws-out-first-pitch-to-his-grandson-at-fenway?ref=homehttps://www.thedailybeast.com/carl-yastrzemski-boston-red-sox-legend-throws-out-first-pitch-to-his-grandson-at-fenway?ref=home
  5. Nice 'never say die' kind of win. Now lose, Cubbies and Brew Crew.
  6. If they could find a way to dump Cano and Lowrie, I sign Rendon in a heartbeat. But you have too many people at third already. Too many people in left already. No real backup SS and no real centerfielder. I know Nimmo can play it, but he's a better corner guy. It's just a really unbalanced team. And of course the bullpen is a dumpster fire.
  7. Oof. I completely forgot about Lowrie. Boy, this team is poorly constructed.
  8. =seawolf17 post_id=22147 time=1568742904 user_id=91] I think you almost have to trade Dom this offseason. I just don't see where he fits. And it's too bad, because I think he's going to be a really good player.
  9. While I like Rendon a lot, McNeil has to play every day somewhere. The only place that works is at 3rd base. Cano's not going anywhere, and with Nimmo, Davis, Conforto and possibly Cespedes in the outfield, there's no place for Squirrel out there.
  10. =kcmets post_id=22074 time=1568673210 user_id=53] Didn't think you were joking, just think Skip is history barring the needed miracle.
  11. "Well, we're expecting a big year from Corey Oswalt."

  13. They have no bullpen. I would have at least let Wheeler sniff the 8th there. He was at 96 pitches and finished the 7th strong. First sign of trouble you pull him. Oh well, meaningful games in September at least.
  14. Mickey gave Alonso Friday off, and it didn't help. Sometimes these things just happen.
  15. Survived it and he better go out for the 8th. The bullpen can only get 3 outs since Lugo's not available. Too bad ESPN's missing a good game. OE: Wheeler's done. Wilson pitches the 8th, who pitches the 9th?
  16. Yes! A Jeter reference! Everybody drink!!!!!
  17. God, these people are just un-listenable.
  18. He's been striking out a lot. Resting him against Kershaw probably isn't a bad thing.
  19. I'd put everyone besides Lugo, Wilson and Avilan in the building and lock the doors.
  20. There's something fun about being 2 1/2 games behind a team on Monday and 1 1/2 games ahead of them on Thursday.
  21. Re: I Give Up Day 2019 Post by Lefty Specialist » Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:15 pm The Fat Lady may not be singing yet, but she IS clearing her throat. It'd take a 4-game sweep of the DBacks at this point, which is highly unlikely. I'd just like to say that it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that I'll be dating any supermodels in the next year.
  22. Boy, what do you make of this team? One minute they're dead and buried. Then they come back to life, then they're dead again, then they get hot. Crazy stuff.
  23. Mets lost to the Phillies 9-11 in 13 innings in 2004. At the end of 9 innings, both teams had 9 runs on 11 hits. I was at the game and took a picture of the scoreboard.
