  1. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=51477 time=1606611074 user_id=119] SkyDome is a nice ballpark. Went there in 2018. I'm hate to see it go.
  2. I think it's really cool that the Mets have an owner who cares about this kind of stuff. You probably have to go back to Mrs. Payson to see a Met owner who cares this much. Nelson Doubleday, maybe a bit but still not in the same league.
  3. Bullpen coach, maybe. Player, no. At least Steve Cohen could absorb the food cost without feeling it.
  4. His wife/life-partner/gf is in some of the pictures: https://www.instagram.com/sam_mcwilliams8/https://www.instagram.com/sam_mcwilliams8/ His GF has a nice set of, um, pugs. He also seems to be fond of high-capacity weaponry so maybe I should just be quiet.
  5. Certainly hope Lou wasn't pulling any financial shenanigans at the behest of the Wilpons.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: "To a person," all the GM candidates have said that "bringing Rojas back is the right thing to do." Sandy wants an NL DH. Boo. "Pitchers can't even bunt any more." Fuck that logic, Sandy. Yeah, but when he's talking about the Mets pitchers, he's spot on.
  7. For me, it's Bobby and Davey and then the rest of the field. Too young to judge the Salty Parkers of the world, or Gil or Casey. Willie had so much talent on those rosters and squandered it. Terry was put in an impossible situation by ownership; he wasn't the greatest manager but he wasn't the worst. He was put there to keep the guys motivated and he did that. And he got them to a World Series when most of us weren't expecting it so he gets a bit of a pass. Yes, he played favorites, played vets over young guys and his bullpen management wasn't the best, but he was crippled by Wilponziness from the jump.
  8. Best news I've heard all day. Logjam less loggy. I'm betting Cano has played his last game as a Met.
  9. =Centerfield post_id=50867 time=1605669378 user_id=65] I don't know why a guy like Tanaka would rehab the UCL and have it hamper his performance and market value for the rest of his career rather than biting the bullet and having the surgery. The success rate is pretty good. I don't know much else about him. But the UCL would concern me.
  10. A huge Steve Cohen popping out of the Home Run Hat is, well, kinda creepy.
  11. There is a brand of deodorant very popular outside the US called Odorono. If the Mets signed Jake that's what I would be calling him until ... forever. Later https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/rs-144227-0fc834d1d9b44323660aa6c0e26293c62da48460.jpg?w=300>
  12. I worry about McNeil at 3rd. He was pretty awful defensively there this year, to the point where he was replaced by Davis, no Brooks Robinson himself.
  13. Yeah, a lot of pitchers coming back from TJ feel good and throw good in small doses early on. Messing with the timetable is dangerous even if you're a sexy beast like Noah. Patience, Thor.
  14. =G-Fafif post_id=50710 time=1605540861 user_id=55] My objection to the Secret Weapon headline is Tomás Nido has been in the big leagues since 2017 and is hardly a secret to anybody paying attention.
  15. Oh sweet Mother of Pearl, no.
  16. Boy, this thought has been in the back of my mind all along. Dom is a more complete player than Pete is. Pete has more power, but Dom's no slouch and hits for a much better average. The DH gave him the playing time he needed to show his stuff. If there's no DH in the NL they have an incredible logjam. And if you get Springer you have McNeil, Nimmo and Dom in LF. That's not going to work. I think they're going to have to trade their way out of this. I'd eat half or more of Cano's contract to move him, but it's Steve's money.
  17. Où est la poubelle?
  18. Yeah, not a fan of Bauer. Has 'explosion' written all over him. He'd probably be half of next year's Tabloid Cover Derby and not necessarily in a good way.
  19. Absolutely. A real CF with all the tools. Much more important than a SS upgrade.
  20. =G-Fafif post_id=50347 time=1605031946 user_id=55] Steve says he likes what the Dodgers are doing, and it's fine. Fred clearly liked what the 1955 Dodgers had done, and he got grief.
  21. SS is just not a major need right now. Lindor's a great player, but a lot of great players will be available this offseason as teams tighten their belts.
  22. LOL at A-Rod's Hamburger Helper hands.
  23. Hawk Harrelson was one of the worst baseball announcers, like, ever.
