  1. There are plenty of grumbles to go around. You don't bat Nimmo 8th, you bat him first. Yeah, it's a lefty, but it wasn't Steve Freaking Carlton out there. Dom should have started. DeGrom had barely broken a sweat and could have gone another inning. Apparently the pre-game 'plan' was 6 innings (or 'ups'), but you adjust plans based on game situations. At least that's what competent, confident managers are supposed to do. Memo to Sandy: the bullpen still sucks. If this is any indication of what's coming, it'll be a long summer in Flushing. Yes, one game, long season, yada, yada, yada. But this game was a microcosm of what's always been wrong with the Mets- losing winnable games.

I'm doing the equivalent of retweeting this forum post Yeah, you could see this one coming a mile down the road. No clutch hitting with men in scoring position early, so they kept the Phillies in the game. Hell, Jake had to drive one in himself. Pulling deGrom an inning early. Rotating compost in the bullpen. A key error in a big spot. This is basically the Mets, 2017-2020. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.
  3. Tough to make Mickey Callaway look good, but he's trying.

  5. I'm not quite as smitten with May as Gary is right now.
  6. Petey getting his uniform dirty. And on we go.
  7. This is shaping up to be one of those games where Jake pitches well enough to win but gets a ND instead.
  8. 2-0 lead but you felt they could have broken this one open.
  9. Finally gets some run support and goes 20-6, 2.10 and a 3rd Cy Young.
  10. Yup, that. A few bad appearances before going on the injured list for the season with something he tried to pitch through but couldn't.
  11. Yup, he'll be up to the task. 34/105, .325 and a new contract.
  12. He'll give up a lot of, well, everything. We'll see that pained look on his face over and over this summer. 1-2, 6.00, released late in the year.
  13. Bombs bigtime- 2-7 5.50 as he tumbles down the depth chart.
  14. Doesn't sit on the money. 29/105/.288.
  15. Breaks out for real. 28/97/ .320.
  16. Talks too much, doesn't always back it up. 12-10, 4.00.
  17. =kcmets post_id=59302 time=1617406490 user_id=53] Middle of the road 2021, a basic disappointment.
  18. First year back from TJ is often sub-par. Has flashes, but 4-5, 4.50.
  19. Sophomore slump. 5-7, 4.75, finds himself in the bullpen when Thor gets back.
  20. They'll have to be sure it's in a safely-blue state. Laws similar to Georgia's are percolating all over. Boston, New York, Chicago, California, Seattle, Baltimore, Minneapolis and Denver are about it. Pennsylvania has a Republican legislature so that rules Philly and Pittsburgh out. Minneapolis if you really want to make a statement about George Floyd but I don't think Manfred is that adventurous. New York would be too obvious a 'liberal elitist cancel culture' play. Dodger Stadium is having it next year so that probably rules them out. I'd guess Baltimore, San Diego, or Denver. But of course I didn't think they'd actually pull the game in the first place.
