  1. Luis Guillorme. His hitting will catch up to his fielding.
  2. I completely missed that the Mets signed Jonathan Villar AND Kevin Pillar. I had mentally morphed them into one player and thought that the later announcement was just a confirmation of the earlier announcement. Need to up my Prevagen dosage or something.

  4. Passed through briefly like a flat stone skipping across our pond, only to sink with one final splash into his MFY-ness. Often confused Chirinos with chorizos.
  5. I need live streaming cameras on all the back fields in PSL. Make it happen, Stevie C.!
  6. Seems Aubrey Wechsler has some explaining of her own to do.
  7. The problem is that Oswalt does well at AAA, gets called up and does nothing, then goes back to AAA. Rinse and repeat. There's a reason nobody claimed him.
  8. I'd have felt a lot better if they'd gotten Springer. I wasn't a Bauer fan, but there were other arms out there (some still are). 1-2-3 are solid, but Peterson is still risky as a 4 and Lucchesi and Yamamoto are AAAA material. I like JD Davis as a hitter, not so much as a third baseman. And I seriously have no idea what to expect of the bullpen. They're better than last year, but they kinda sucked last year. Too many Met teams are of the 'if X and Y have a good year and we add someone at the deadline....' variety. Sometimes that works (2015), most of the time it doesn't.
  9. Wow, I must have missed him, too. He left no lasting impression.
  10. I guess Steve Cohen needs the money.
  11. Spring training is around the corner, and they've improved, but is it enough? They don't have a fifth starter, a real centerfielder or a third baseman who can field the position adequately. There are people occupying all of those positions, but..... And the bullpen without Lugo is even more suspect. Relying on 'bounce-back years' has doomed many a Met team in the past. So is this the team they go to battle with? Or do Sandy/Temp Guy have something else up their sleeve? Cuz as currently constructed I think they come up short. Discuss amongst yourselves.
  12. Did a semi-funny commercial with Jerry Blevins for a Mets sock giveaway promo. Outside of that, not much.
  13. I used to have a loose body after a few beers. Lugo has always been a ticking time bomb.
  14. I'd imagine the A's would ask for JD Davis and what's left of the farm system.
  15. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0d/a2/ef/0da2efd234125eee3f99eedb35993ad2.jpg> Oh. Darren O'Day. Never mind. Farfel!
  16. Boy, time flies doesn't it? Still searching for a picture from 1999. Lefty Jr is 4 years old, and he's super-excited that he's going to catch a ball. I get box seats from one of our vendors and we're all set, except that when we get there we're right behind home plate and there's a screen over us. No chance of a foul ball. Jr is crushed, because he's built getting a ball as the biggest thing EVER. I go to the concession stand and buy a Mets logo ball. I talk to the people sitting around us quietly, letting them in on the plan. A foul ball is hit straight back and everyone cranes their head to the sky, including him. That's when I bounce the ball onto the steps at the end of the aisle, and say 'look, there it is!!'. He launches himself out of the seat and pounces on it. Everyone in our section cheers. His smile is ear to ear. One of my best Shea memories, even though I have no idea whether they won or lost or who they played. Still have that ball, though. It reminds me of that gullible little boy who had the best frickin' day of his life.
  17. Grand larceny. I like to think he was the straw that broke the Wilpons' back. Yes, he'll have a great year for the A's.
  18. In all the fuss I didn't notice that Pete's rocking the original Buccaneers hat.in glorious tangerine orange.
  19. Ummm......not a good look, Pete.
  20. Not a terrible pickup, but not a game-changer either. Strengthens the bench considerably.
  21. A 5-year-old Lefty Jr. fooling around in the upper deck in 2000. https://i.ibb.co/nkwSRMc/Matthew2000.jpg>
  22. =TransMonk post_id=55532 time=1612558942 user_id=71] 100% OK with him going to LA.
  23. I'd prefer they work on the big things first (a real center fielder and an arm for the rotation) before worrying about the 6th or even 5th outfielder. Spring training starts soon and some things need to be wrapped up.
  24. I don't know if Kay should have said anything or not. But to say "how could you not know" when you yourself knew and didn't say anything - well, that is why they didn't know you fucking idiot! because people like you didn't say anything! I'm guessing that Kay a) didn't want to get on anyone's shit list, or thought it was just 'boys being boys', but now gets to harrumph about it.
  25. =metsmarathon post_id=55373 time=1612368530 user_id=83] it sure sounds like he knows who those potential big names are. maybe he should start using their names.
