  1. I sat outside on my deck and chose to listen to Howie instead of watching SNY. I think I made the right choice - Howie did a great job in the bottom of the ninth.
  2. Something tells me that what they are saying to the press is just a little different than what they are saying to each other behind closed doors. Crash Davis wrote: These your are your cliches. They are your friends. I'm only here to help the ball club. We gotta play it one day at a time. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes it rains.
  3. Centerfield wrote: Interesting question, if offered to you right now, would you take that? Exciting race, make the playoffs, go to the WS, lose in 7 when Terry puts Harvey out for game 6 on short rest? Use George Stone!!!!
  4. With the crappy records in the NL East, combined with the number of Mets injuries, 2015 is starting to have a 1973 type vibe...

  6. Wasn't David Wright a compensation pick, or am I conflating him with someone else? O/E: Supplemental pick for Mike Hampton. How did I not remember that?

  8. Lefty Specialist wrote: I leave my house at 6:25 AM. West Coast games are dead to me. This, especially when Max has been needing to go for his walk as soon as the sun comes up.

Holy schmoly, look at those HUGE dials. Quick Quiz: Who's the actor in the ad? (More like a question since I don't know the answer) That looks like Richard Deacon, most known as Mel Cooley on the Dick Van Dyke show...
  10. I have to admit, I always liked Chipper in the same way I like Bryce Harper.

I have no idea why Strasburg & Bailey are the specific examples here,. After a long day at work, they were the first two who I thought of. I was admittedly too tired to really dig further.
  13. I realize that this is hardly scientific, but searches for Homer Bailey and Stephen Strasburg didn't pull up any articles regarding insurance like the aforementioned article. The only articles I found regarding Strassburg were in relation to the Nationals shutting down Strassburg, and what Boras said regarding any consequences for the Nationals if they didn't follow doctor's orders...
  14. I'm amazed that a week of being a Marlin rated not one, but two cards for Piazza.
  15. This franchise has become such an embarrassment. Would this be a story with any other team?

  17. Edgy MD wrote: dgw stole my igt mojo. I'm stealing it back. Noah Syndergaard, who that thief dgw promised would be in the minors by now, is looking to even up his record, taking on phringey Philadelphia journeyman starter Sean O'Sullivan. You just doomed the Mets to a loss today, my in-editable friend...
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Oh, shit. Jumping on my IGT privileges. COULD ANYTHING GOOD COME FROM THIS?!! Um... yep. Does this mean I should start today's too?
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That W would be for "Williamsport." Hurdle managed the 1991 AA Mets franchise there that year. I know - They were the Williamsport Bills that year. I was trying to have a little fun here...
  20. Edgy MD wrote: I'll take any one who references the Jackson Mets. Haven't been a Mets affiliate since 1990, when they were Clint Hurdle's second managerial assignment, after two years in St. Lucie. Ooooh, and here is the aforementioned Clint Hurdle with a mysterious W on his cap, when the AA Red Sox still played at Beehive Field.

If Wright it out an extended period of time, play Reynolds at SS and Flores at third. When Dilson Herrera gets healthy sit anyone that isn't hitting and re-align as necessary. Sure - make sense. See if we care... Everyone is too quick to make a trade involving one of our young pitchers. Unless we can bring back a hitter like Mike Trout or Giancarlo Stanton (I know, I know), There isn't much worth trading for, and I don't think we should overpay for the crap that is available.

Will see a specialist in California and will know more in a few days. I am encouraged by his comment: None of the doctors at this point have given us any indication this is a long-term problem that cant be managed. Of course, this is classic Sandy-speak, in that presumably none of the doctors have given any indication that this is a short term problem that can be managed. They've lied to us too often. their won't be a next time I believe anything this front office has to say regarding injuries, or anything actually.
