  1. He’s not worth all of this angst. Just go elsewhere already.
  2. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Proud to have attended the Piazza 9/11 game, the Todd Pratt game, the Mo Vaughn game and the Brazell-Diaz game. I can't believe Piazza's home run on September 21, 2001 isn't the first one mentioned in this thread.
  3. The drone footage during the game was amazing: SNY (@snytv) β€’ Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 17K likes, 225 comments - snytv on September 22, 2024: "Our SNY broadcast crew was in their BAG yesterday flying a drone over Citi Field πŸ”₯".
  4. I first met Marc during fireworks night at Shea in 1990. It was the first night I tried shooting the fireworks there, and he was really helpful. His shot was of course on the yearbook cover the next season.
  5. The Hot Corner wrote: If one looks at the statistics for Tommy John surgeries now being done on teenagers due to overuse, while chasing their dreams, I believe the root of the issue is apparent, at least to me. I know that most youth leagues limit the number of innings a pitching can throw, but most talented kids now play year round, not just in the summer. Then you add the fact that the most talented youngsters often play overlapping leagues so they throw the maximum inning in not just one league, but often in two or three competing leagues. They are often damaging their arms before they are ever drafted. Last spring (2023), I was covering a state semi-final game - one of the pitchers drew a lot of interest from the scouts (Hiro Wyatt, drafted in the third round by the Royals), and one of the scouts told me and the writer I was working with that kids in the Northeast are getting more and more interest because they don't throw as much as the kids in the warmer states. As he said, β€œIf they're getting TJ surgery, we want it to happen on our watch.”
  6. According to Mike Puma, Nimmo fainted...
  7. I agree with Heals here:
  8. Hopefully 6:45 according to Mets Radio Booth on twitter
  9. https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1799506371697598613 Wow The way that ball bounced gave me 70's era astroturf vibes. It makes me wonder what's under that layer of turf, and just how hard that playing surface is.
  10. He was the Braves announcer during the July 3-4, 1985 game.
  11. It's my fault. I put the game on right the beginning of the bottom of the 8th. They still haven't gotten an out.
  12. You can't get thrown out for thinking, so take a swing at George Will's baseball quiz I scored 22 out of 41. βœ…βœ…βŒβœ…βœ…βœ…βŒβœ…βŒβœ…βŒβŒβŒβœ…βŒβŒβœ…βœ…βœ…βŒβœ…βŒβœ…βŒβŒβŒβœ…βœ…βœ…βŒβœ…βœ…βŒβŒβœ…βŒβŒβœ…βœ…βŒβœ…

  14. 1. What will the Mets' record be? 82-80 2. Predict the NL East standings from 1 to 5: Braves, Phillies, Mets, Marlins, Nationals 3. Will the Mets make the playoffs (if so, as the division champ or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd WC)? No 4. If so, how far will they go? N/A 5. Who will be the World Champion? Braves 6. Number of regular season HRs for Pete Alonso: He will have 31 around the All-Star Break, tear up his thumb diving for a ball, and end up with 37.
  15. It's funny how these sorts of things work out - I have a feeling we will be pleasantly surprised with Vientos after not signing J.D. Davis. I could see .275-20-75 this year.
  16. No, trading Pete isn't nuts - I've been warming to the idea for the past 12 months or so. He's too one-dimensional, last year he was basically a glorified Dave Kingman.
  17. =nymr83 post_id=148571 time=1710044072 user_id=54] I opened this thread expecting Jeri Ryan content and instead I got a no name reliever. What a buzzkill.
  18. =metsmarathon post_id=148370 time=1709730594 user_id=83] Pretty good skyline out the left field window. looks... familiar, like i've seen it before...
  19. =DocTee post_id=147233 time=1708169154 user_id=85] College teammate of Pete Alonso and Harrison Bader at UF. For a guy with a cult following, I could never get on board the Vogey bus. In my mind, he was born to be a Milwaukee Brewer.
  20. I haven't seen this yet, but IIRC, wasn't there a sign that said "Leave your egos at the door"? That alone would be enough to disqualify her.
