  3. As Greg's partner reminded us on twitter: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/baseballinsider/jenrry-mejia-ready-reclaim-phenom-status-ny-mets-blog-entry-1.1642667 That might read like a boast, but he said it with glee, not swagger. After posting a 5.62 ERA last September, then missing most of the first half this year with discomfort in his forearm and elbow (he needs offseason surgery, but does not consider it major), Mejia seemed cooked for good. And, according to organizational sources, he had Frank Francisco advising him to stay in Port St. Lucie and collect his big league D.L. money, rather than work to return and be optioned to the minors. While this doesn't mention Montero (it is 2 years old), the Frank Francisco cancer runs deep.

  5. You know what would be great? If the cheap-assed owners of the B-Mets would spring for numbers on the front of the uniforms... Mr. Cecchini did flash some nice leather in New Britain:
  6. One of my favorite things regarding Castle - there are shout outs to Firefly sprinkled through each season
  7. I get the feeling that he was not coming back after the season any way. What I read at the Free Press seemed to give Dombrowski good marks for his trades, especially in light of his contract position at the time.

  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Still no announced settlement in the B-Mets case but other actions already in motion to suggest they'll be in Wilmington in 2017. That is, the Class A franchise in Wilmo has been sold to the Rangers Class A and they'll move that to Kinston, NC. That leaves an opening in Wilmington for a Class AA club. It is speculated Bingo could wind up with a Class A or less team. Ugh - I was hoping a move to New Britain would be in the cards. With the Rock Cats moving to Hartford next year, there's a fairly new stadium in New Britain that has a similar design to the one in Binghamton that will be unused...

  15. I'm trying to fight the giddiness I've been feeling, and losing the battle. I've forgotten what it's like to be happy while watching the Mets...
  16. I can quite easily get used to games like this. Cespedes looked a little perturbed in the dugout after his 3rd double. He looked like he was wondering what he had to do to hit the ball out there..

G-Fafif wrote: Trying to decide if Mets are sharpening their skills even more during these unnatural seven Sunday hours of waiting or are Nationals remembering how to play ball...or becoming beside themselves with impatience and thus getting rattled ahead of the 8:08 PM start. Sunday Night Baseball -- we should know when it's over whether it's worth a damn. Either way, it's annoying to not have baseball on this glorious Sunday afternoon.

I'm not sure, but I think you've just experienced a documented Mario Ramirez sighting. I was guessing Nino Espinosa. Which would make it 1978. Yeah, that looks more like Espinosa
