  2. There's also rumors of Spidey showing up in Captain America: Civil War

Feh. * why use the Mandarin, the original and quintessential IM villain, and then turn him into ... that? * AIM is really undeveloped as a concept, considering it's the real villain of the piece. * a plucky kid sidekick? really? REALLY? * what does it take to put down one of these Extremis soldiers? blowing out the heart? cutting off the head? total disintigration? They're pretty inconsistent about that. * The beautiful double-crossing scientist has been helping the homicidal nutball for a decade, but after one guilt-tripping speech from Stark, she's prepared to kill herself to stop everything she's worked on? Wow, that Stark sure has a magic tongue... and he's persuasive too; * Pepper is the only one more annoying than Tony; * If Stark had all those suits readly to launch, why does he wait so long to summon them while he's suitless and in the clutches of the bad guy? * And after showing how useful the multitude of suits were, and Pepper now grateful for their existence, he gets rid of them all? Why? Just to make a nice Xmas fireworks display? * If the iron in his heart was operable, why didn't he ever do it before? was there some medical breakthru that went unremarked upon? Or has he just cured himself of a deathwish? * Once he removes the power core from his chest, he's no longer Iron Man... he's a rich, drunken genius with daddy issues and a bunch of cool metal suits. I did like Ben Kingsley, and the post-credit bit with Bruce. But not much else. It did elevate my opinion of IM 2, however. so there's that. yeah, this. Steaming. Pile. Of. Crap. They had Ben Kingsley, who could have carried this film as a quintessential villain, and they did this to him. It made me angrier than what JJ Abrams did to Star Trek...

Maybe we can finally retire "TCOB" as the after-win song. You down wit OBP? Yeah you know me! Please God, make this so. I am so sick of TCOB - this team has made me hate that song.

  7. I didn't see 10 films in the movies this year, but of what I saw, The Theory Of Everything was easily the best, and Eddie Redmayne should win every single best actor award this award season. Guardians of the Galaxy - Easily the best Marvel movie since Avengers. LEGO Movie - Everything is Awesome! just a fun ride Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier - Holy migraines! A really good script was destroyed by too much shaky cam that had me diving for the Dramamine....
  8. Biggio Johnson Piazza Raines P. Martinez Smoltz The hardest for me was Bonds. I felt he more than anyone else was a HOFer before it was documented that he used PEDs, but I ultimately left him off.

  13. Well, time will tell, but these owners have been known to have a thin skin in the past, so it wouldn't surprise me.
  14. The timing of this is more than a little suspect. I sense some wag the dog here to get the conversation to be about Terry and Wally instead of the lawsuit...

Trachsel My Tears wrote: Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Or, is this a cautionary tale for great -- and classy -- players to not announce their retirement until the end of the season so they don't have to be embarrassed like this? Don't you get the impression that Jeter is eating this shit up with a spoon? I mean, he could just nip this in the bud by refusing to participate in it at all, or simply "Ix-nay on the -eremony-cay, ok?" I see him all modest and bashful and shit, but when that Yankee-PR door shuts behind him, he's all, "No, no, no!! More! Bigger! Longer!" Jeter is this generation's DiMaggio, and I don't mean that as a complement. 20 years from now, I can see Jetes demanding to be the last introduced at every Yankee Stadium event, and as "The Greatest Living Ballplayer*". *© MFY PR Machine.

  21. I'm expecting an announcement by October 3, at the latest, that Wright will undergo shoulder surgery.
  22. Yesterday I joined several friends at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport to see the Bluefish play the Lancaster Barnstormers in some Independent League action. One of our group noted that he saw a lot of people wearing Met paraphernalia waiting to get in, and I couldn't figure out why. When the starting line-ups were announced, I saw that former Met Chris Schwinden was starting for Lancaster: I doubted that was it. There was even almost-but-never-was-Met Boof Bonser coming out of the bullpen: That wasn't it, either. There was this announcement from the PA announcer just before the game, "To throw out the first pitch, please welcome former Major League great, Dwight Gooden": Didn't see that one coming.
  23. This was shown as an introduction to the Marvel panel at SDCC - pretty freaking cool... [youtube:ixjg2epy]cInu82fWFfQ[/youtube:ixjg2epy]
