  1. I think I would have left Lyon in. Only 8 pitches, you're going to have to PH for the pitcher in bottom 9, and this one could go on for a while.

  4. I had that game too! (GHPF)
  5. Harvey may be our only hope because it appears that some as yet unidentified persons in Cincinnati have threatened NYM batters that they'll all get their income tax status scrutinized if any actual RiSP hits come against Redleg pitchers. So far only Marlon Byrd is on their shit-list.
  6. Campbell has actually played more 3B & OF this season than he has 1B - although that's not a bad thing either. Has only about half the number of ABs that a full-time player should have around this time of year though - not sure what's up with that.
  7. Gee - 1.1 Burke - 0.7 Rice - 1.1 Parnell - 0.7 Murphy - 2.0 Lagares - 2.5 Wright - 1.0 Tejada - 1.0
  8. Ankiel - 1.5 Murphy - 1.0 Baxter - 0.3 Wright - 0.3 Byrd - 0.3 Duda - 0.3 Buck - 0.3
  9. This was like those reg season games we seemed to have against the Yanx all the time there for a while, where all the walks, all the cheesy hits, and the big error would all get bunched up in the same inning to form a deficit the Mets would never recover from. I mean, yeah, we didn't hit and deserved to lose, but it's not like they hit either. We just put all our screw-ups in a six-batter sequence.

  11. I just find it funny that, even though this team desperately needs OFers, we're getting preemptive 'NO WAY' comments five months in advance on two of the guys who are likely to be among the best hitters available.
  12. With two outs and with Ike coming up, Teufel probably should have sent Duda although I'm not so sure he would have been safe.

I'm not saying either has to be one of them, only that both, Choo in particular, should be in consideration. In the meantime, if not one of them, I'm sure we're all ready and willing to listen to alternatives.
  14. We are most likely going to be in need of several outfielders.
  15. Ceetar wrote: [i don't know enough about Choo to guess for sure, but I don't think he's a plus CFer. Beltran isn't any kind of CFer these days and certainly won't be in coming days. Choo is looking to be decent in CF during this short span with Cincy. Ideally he's a corner OF and absolutely has a plus-arm for RF

  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Hits lefty too so it wouldn't be practical to think of him in a platoon with Ike. Aww the hell with that thinking, we should specifically look for a lefty bat to play 1B so he can be platooned with Turner. Between his 1-fer-30s, diminished defense*, and his sleep-standing on 1st base, Ike is bringing nothing to the table at this point. * it might be too harsh to say that it's costing the team runs but it is noticeably sloppier
  18. Gwreck wrote: Interference call seemed bogus No, it was the right call. 1B ump indicated it immediately and then properly awarded Votto the base when the play ended. but it was clear (even from the seats) that the plate ump was terrible. Not a good night for Hallion This was still a fun game to attend - for a loss - but still, this is going to be a really long season. Long season? Hell, those first two innings were long enough.
  19. Going to have to make the comeback against Aroldis.
  20. Not sure I saw all that much in the previous inning for LaTroy to get all that steamed over (except for the fantom foul by Fillips that is but Hawkins seemed pissed even before then) but he did and now he and Terry are going to watch the rest of the game on TV.
  21. I'd like to thank Dusty Baker for sticking his .250 OBA backup SS in amongst all his monster hitters. This game could be a lot worse otherwise.
  22. I hope no one at the park tonight has a dinner reservation for afterward because, at the pace this game is going, they're not going anywhere for a while.
  23. Mets have had too many of these innings where they make the opposing pitcher throw a ton of pitches and get guys all over the basepaths -- which is all well and good -- but then don't actually score any of said guys. Hopefully it'll pay off eventually but it would be nice if it were to occasionally pay off at the time.
  24. Tornados today in Oklahoma. Local forecasters predict a heavy chance of Jeremy Hefner interviews during tonight's game.
