  1. Let's see now ... - Joba has been re-activated which means some guy (probably one I've never heard of) was sent down to make room but I neither know nor care which. - And we probably shouldn't count on not scoring until the 8th or 9th innings and expect to win. The strategy of constructing a winning streak by scoring 4 runs over 2 games (or 8 runs over 3) not only doesn't carry you very far but it's tougher to pull off with the likes of Hefner & Gee than it is with Niese & Harvey (or even Marcum). - Oh, and we'll be playing DH rules for the next two days so say hello to lots of Travis Hafner That's all I got.
  2. I heard some brief talk about it concerning Murph's GW single on Monday but I didn't listen to any talk radio since then or read any papers today so I'm not sure about last night's game and therefore need info on what seems to be paramount on the minds of Yanx fans whenever they lose a close one to the Mets: * Did the blue & orange celebrate too much? This always seems to be a major complaint among YLDBs and even occasionally from the MFY front office types going back to the Matt Franco single (Best. Inter. League. Game. Ever.) and several since then; that the players act as if they just won Game of the WS instead of a game in May or June and that they're not a good enough squad to do so. So I think we need to hear from the YLDBs on whether or not the boys behaved properly for MFY standards or if Duda's "c'mon" gesture after his hit broke some unwritten rule about how to act when you've slain the king. At least he didn't do it on hallowed Bronx ground, who knows what the penalty for that would be for that!

  4. ike isn't really swinging at balls out of the zone more often, but when he does, he's making much less contact. Which implies that the bad balls he's swinging at are really bad now as compared to maybe only slightly out of the zone in the past.
  5. As somebody said on the broadcast last night (and you can do it now with these 'Pitch F/X' charts) if you were to see a graph of all the pitches Ike's seen lately and the results you'll probably see most of his swings-and-misses are at stuff out of the zone and many of the ones he takes wind up as called strikes.
  6. When voting, be careful not to mix up the twin 2-1 wins over the Yanx. Would make for some strange results if you did. On the Monday game, yeah Valdy walked and later scored the eventual winning run, but it was Baxter's leadoff 2B that got it all started and he's getting snubbed in some votes. Giving more points for Jordany in this case seems to me to be voting the stat (Run Scored) rather than the contribution and Bax certainly doesn't deserve any demerits for getting thrown out at the plate on Tejada's grounder. It was the right chance, great slide, almost made it. But his hit was like Murph's in the 2nd game ... only without the part where he got robbed in every other AB
  7. Niese - 4.2 Lyon - 0.5 Parnell - 0.5 Baxter - 1.3 Murphy - 1.5 Wright - 2.0
  8. Harvey - 4.7 Rice - 0.8 Wright - 1.5 Murphy - 1.5 Duda - 1.5
  9. Duda doing an actual interview with Harold Reynolds & co on MLBN Even cracked a couple of jokes.
  10. Austine Romine is their best defensive catching prospect. They called him up when Cervelli got hurt but he can't hit so he sits most of the time so they can get Stewart's bat in the game. They paid for it both nights so far.

He should be on the next train to King of Prussia or wherever the Yankees send their AAA players. And on the Wright single, they gave the error to Gardner on the play at the plate (they always give them to the thrower on those plays) but that was absolutely the catcher's bad on that one. At first I thought he lost it in Muffy's slide but that didn't hit Daniel until it went right through Stewart's wickets and Dabid getting down to 2B on that play was HUGE.
  12. First time in Rivera's career that he's come in, given up three hits, two runs, lost the game and didn't get an out. Yeah, Game 7 2001 WS doesn't quite count. In that one he faced six hitters, gave up two runs, but did get one out. Of course there's a caveat in that one as two of the batters he faced that night were trying to make an out: Single - Sac Bunt (Error), Sac Bunt/Force, Double, HBP, GW Single Come to think of it he also pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning too that night.

  14. Words AND smiles out of Lucas
  15. KABOOM RADLEY!!!!!
  16. FUCK YEAH!!!!
  17. Rivera this seson: 20 appearances 19 were full-inning appearances 18 were saves he's given up 3 runs in total, 1 run in each of three outings he gave up hits in 11 of them

If Girardi goes with a LHP then we'd PH for sure, so I think he'll just go straight to Robertson. At this point Jordany is probably a better bet to hit a HR than Ike so I'd go that way (assuming, again, that it's not a lefty).
  19. 'nother low energy play by Ruben
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Vote your hopes, not your fears. Think Davis makes it to the plate in the bottom of the inning? I was about the ask the same question: PH to increase the odds of getting the leadoff runner on, or keep Ike in based on the off chance of a tying HR?
  21. Here's the thing about this shift vs Buck even when holding the runner on which gives him the whole one side of the field ... the Yanx don't care if Buck gets a single because Ike is on deck.
  22. btw, not that it's our greatest concern at the moment, but no way should that have been an Earned Run against Harvey. To call it Earned you've got to assume that Cano's grounder would have moved Gardener up to 2nd and then that Overbay's single would have moved him up [u:2mxzto30]Two[/u:2mxzto30] bases. Both highly speculative assumptions, particularly the first one.
  23. I know he was never going to be another Reyes, but when did Tejada become such a low energy player? Not charging balls hard, weak leads from 1st, then slow to react at 2nd, etc.
  24. No way Gardner could have made those plays unless Jeter was his teammate.
  25. Dwight's upcoming book partially explains his appearance/exposure here.
