  2. Like Edgy and Vlad, I live in the DC area. We awoke to find the Mets collapse on the front page of The Washington Post. Even here, I'm getting calls and emails with condolences. Perhaps I should sit shiva.
  3. I can't stand the team overall, or their obnoxious fans, and I hope that they get swept. Having said that, I admire Rollins for backing up the talk. For that alone, he should be the MVP. I like Howard--seems like a nice guy (and he's carried my fantasy team for two years) and you can't turn away when he's at bat. I like Rowand--he plays all out (and I hope that he's the Mets RF'er in '08). Utley is a pro. That's four of them, individually, that I respect and enjoy watching (plus Victorino to a lesser extent). After that--SCREW 'EM!, especially Myers and that overrated, lame, mascot. Go Rockies or Padres!
  4. We're going for the team that is playing the MFYs.
  5. ...I just saved $244 on NLDS tickets. ...I'll save money on championship T-shirts and memorabilia. ...When my wife wants to watch a show with me, I won't have to say "after the game." ...My wife said that she might take my mind off the Mets later. ...The guy ahead of me in my fantasy league had Glavine (4th place). Glavine's 189 ERA from today allows me to finish tied for 4th (and in the money). ...(and best of all) We will never have to see this Mets team again.
  6. TBA has a better bullpen.

  8. Girardi. Oberkfell. When ST opens, if Willie is there, we will think of '07 and so will the team. Time for a change.
  9. The stench of '07 will linger with Willie into '08. It will have a negative effect on the team and weigh it down. I hate to say it but I concur. He should be fired... but it won't happen. The Wilpon's don't want to appear Steinbrenneresq.
  10. Somebody at FAN has a perverse sense of humor. Before the highlights, they usually have a player that did well in the game say "This is X and you're listening to Mets Extra....." Today, they used Glavine.
  11. Beltran 2 Mota 1 Sosa 1
  12. Zvon--You get my Schaefer votes for MVP--Most Valuable Poster. You even made me laugh today.
  13. MGIM--I'm like you--this is unimaginable. Was...
  14. Billy's pissed. Go to page two, second to last paragraph, second half of the paragraph. http://nymag.com/news/sports/38353/
  15. I do want to see Glavine pitch again for the Mets... during the '07 playoffs. In '08, he can pitch elsewhere. Three big starts down the stretch, three lousy performances.
  16. F'in Austin Kearns, who hit those 3 run homers against the Mets, just hit into a DP with 2 on.
  17. Zimmerman just got called out on strikes on a pitch off the plate. Moyer's getting the calls.
  18. Olivo gets suspended for 5 games but appeals so it doesn't take effect until next year.
  19. Because the Mets are really socking the ball Knocking the homeruns, over the wall.
  20. Hanley Ramirez lives up to his post-game comment and is in the lineup.
  21. Castillo 2 Beltran 2 Green 1 Delgado 1 Wright 1
  22. Martinez 3 Wright 1
  23. Maine 6 Milledge 3 Castillo 1
  24. From today's NYT: Were not out of it technically, so were going to have to find a way to get a win tomorrow, Manager Willie Randolph said. That one word technically speaks volumes about how this team is reacting to this stunning breakdown. Technically, the Mets are still alive. Mathematically, they still have a chance. But people tend to say those words, when all hope seems to have vanished, as if they are convincing themselves that they have a chance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What kind of crap is that, saying "technically." The Mets are still in it and he, more than anybody else, should be upbeat and rallying the troops. It ain't over, even though it might appear that way.
