  1. My love for the Mets is being put to the test: I can't watch while at work so I'm listening to the Braves radio call of the game. Pete Van Wieren the sole announcer thus far and he said something like "everybody in NY has given the division to the Mets." Really? We're optimistic but realistic. We're not Yankees fan so we see our team's faults and, given you-know-what, have realistic expectations. We may think, as I do, that the team will win the division but we recognize the threats of the Phillies and Braves. Yet, this moron tells the Atlanta fans (both of them) that we're printing playoff tickets. This just reinforces their stereotype of us as arrogant. Plus, he is confused by the fact that the Braves pitcher has the same last name as the Mets shortstop. At least once, he said that "Jose Reyes" is on the mound for the Braves.
  2. Speaking of Delgado, here is what is on the front of today's Best Buy circular (in the Washington area):
  3. Yeesh, what a collision... reminded me of Nick Johnson and Austin Kearns at Shea. Fortunately, it doesn't look major.
  4. I vote for 24, then 48.
  5. I'm in. Thanks for setting it up.

I agree with G-Fafif: my first impression is that Johan came across as a real, human bean. Glavine, in contrast, was neither "devastated" or "disappointed" at a nadir in his career, showing that he was incapable of real, human emotion when it was expected.
  7. Metsblog reports that "supper" has been delivered. Chinese?
  8. Thanks. You said that it was "high-end." What is the value and what year was it issued?
  9. To those in the know, what is this card? Thanks. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l165/poozer14/86%20Mets%20PC%20NFT/10273.jpg
  10. With Santana, the odds on the Mets winning the WS went from 8-1 to 5-1.
  11. And he can rake! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=4280&context=batting

  13. Santana, Pedro, Maine, OPerez, O Hernandez. Damn good. I like Jason Stark but I don't agree when he said tonight that this makes the Mets and Phillies even, meaning the Phillies were better this morning. The Mets gave up NOBODY that would help them in '08 (maybe Gomez, a little bit) and added "THE BEST PITCHER OF THE 21ST CENTURY" (quoting Peter Gammons tonight). I would still add Livan to pitch the timeframe when his half-brother is on the DL... maybe OM could get them to share a uni to save money.
  14. Good catch but common sense by MLB? Must have been a coincidence!
  15. http://www.bizofbaseball.com/docs/2008MasterMLBRegularSeasonSchedule.pdf Entire MLB schedule in one document.
  16. The Mets and Cubs are both the NL favorite at 4-1 to win the NL and both are 8-1 to win the WS.
  17. I'm visiting Las Vegas. I went to a sports book today (Mandalay Bay--very nice) and put down $20 on the Mets to win the World Series. I did it because I think they are quite capable of winning, getting 8 to 1 is more than I expected (especially because the odds will shorten if they get Santana), and as a symbol of support and confidence in my team. Regardless of my rationale, do you think that I wasted $20 (ignore the fact that they have my money for 10 months)?
  18. Yeesh, this is the best that the Mets can come up with? A second banana from St. Louis? He's not bad (he doesn't make me ill like some others) but he's not New York quality, either. I also don't want somebody in there that was happy at the end of Game 7, 2006 NLCS. Ed Coleman's no great shakes but he's now a Mets guy. I certainly don't want a "fan" in there cheering for three hours--this isn't the Lowe's Broadcast Booth at Yankee Stadium--but I prefer somebody with at least a little blue and orange in his blood.
  19. I also be a lawyer and Mets Fan In Michigan is correct. I uphold his opinion!

  21. "Now we're wondering if Glavine will be cheered or booed when he returns to Shea in '08 with the Braves." Klapisch wrote this today, here: http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkxMTMmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTcyMzg2OTAmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2 Who is this "we" that Klapisch thinks is wondering? Only him, as far as I know because the first time Tom Glavine takes the mound at Shea this season, it will be like a theme night. There's "Meringue Night", there's "Jewish Heritage Day" and there will be "Let Tom Glavine know how you feel about him Night." Is there any doubt that Glavine will be booed liked crazy?
  22. Doc Tee has a big early lead... nice going.
  23. My wife and sons went to the M & M Store in Times Square. They bought me M & M's in Mets colors. The Mets M & M's were delicious but they....
