  1. Maybe they should have signed Loshe or Livan as insurance. There's always Vargas, who was released by Milwaukee.
  2. Santana 4 Wright 3 Beltran 2 Church .5 Pagan .5
  3. Happy new year, my friends.
  4. Wishing the Mets a great 2008, here are The Zombies! 5. From John Delcos: On the DL: Ramon Castro (right hammy, retroactive to March 21); Duaner Sanchez (right shoulder, retroactive to March 27); and Orlando Hernandez (right foot, retroactive to March 29). DFA; Brian Stokes. Reassigned to minor league camp: Ricardo Rincon, Fernando Tatis and Nelson Figueroa. Added to roster: Brady Clark and Raul Casanova.
  6. http://mets.lohudblogs.com/ John Delcos has the latest--Pelfrey, Smith, Clark--YES. Tatis--NO.
  7. I went to tonight's exhibition game between the Nationals and Orioles which was the first game at Nats Park. The place is outstanding. If you've been to CBP in Philadelphia, you have an idea of what Nats Park is like except that this park seems a little smaller, a little more intimate. The sightlines are great. There is plenty to see around the place, including numerous food places run by local companies and not the stadium food vendor. I was impressed and wondered how CitiField could top it. The food was a problem tonight as there were long lines all night. This will be a bigger problem tomorrow with a full house. As we left, a guy in the streets was selling, as he put it, "God Damn hats, $10"--I wondered if "F'in Hats" cost more. When Milledge got drilled on the ankle, I didn't mind. I rooted for LoDuca (they played "Best of My Love" by the Emotions as his at bat music and not "Stayin' Alive). It was nice seeing Chad Bradford. The Orioles are horrid.
  8. Great connection between "Spinal Tap" and American University basketball: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2008/03/aus_spinal_tap_connection.html
  9. Since the 2008 regular season has not yet begun, I have placed this Mets music related note, from today's [u:7be9e3fd1f]Newsday[/u:7be9e3fd1f], in the thread from 2007: Perhaps Smith someday can be like Heilman, who was approached by a Mets PR official who asked him which song he'd like played when he enters games at Shea this season. Heilman, who changed from The Clash's "London Calling" to "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes last season, didn't have an answer. "I'll have to think about that," he said. But he won't have to think about his role.
  10. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2008/03/breaking_news_john_patterson_r.html#comments He is oft-injured but has been good in the past and might be a good pickup to store at AAA.
  11. All is well--the word on Red Sox radio is that the coaches and staff will be paid.
  12. The Red Sox have not taken the field yet. Dice-K was supposed to start but he was moved to a minor league game. And now the Athletics say that they won't go to Japan either to support their coaches and staff.
  13. Interesting stuff going on right now: the Sox are refusing to take the field for their last Florida exhibition game, and are threating to boycott the entire trip to Japan, because MLB will not be paying, as allegedly promised, the coaching staff the same $40,00 stipend that the players are getting.

  16. AG/DC wrote: With a small amount of remaining work, the Mets can field and all-Reyes lineup. And they can play the Tampa... Rays.
  17. "Rock Me Slowly" is the song in the Jeep commercial with the singing animals. Joan Jett is from Wheaton, MD so they could play "I Love Rock and Roll."
  18. It's still "Nationals Park" while the local businesses try to come up with the dough for the name. E.g., GEICO is in the running.
  19. If you go to the Nationals website, the team is asking fans to choose the music for certain situations. As a participant in a season ticket plan, I felt entitled to vote. -------------------------------------------- Which of the following songs would you most like to hear played whenever a Nationals player hits a home run in Nationals Park this season? Because We Can by Fatboy Slim Bustin Loose by Chuck Brown Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation Off We Go (Air Force Theme) by Robert Crawford Song 2 (Woo Hoo) by Blur Which of the following songs would you most like to hear played during the 7th inning stretch at every game in Nationals Park this season? Beautiful Day by U2 Celebration by Kool And The Gang Dancing In The Streets by Martha Reeves and the Vandelas How Do You Like Me Now by Toby Keith Rock and Roll Part 2 by Gary Glitter
  20. From John Delcos at the LoHud Mets Blog: A Mets official said there is nothing to a WFAN report Angel Pagan was being traded to Boston for Co Co Crisp. By the way, Pagan just homered.
  21. It's being discussed at SOSH, too.
  22. What a lineup! ESPN must be thrilled! LF Ezequiel Carrera; SS Anderson Hernandez; CF Angel Pagan; DH Olmedo Saenz; C Raul Casanova; RF Fernando Martinez; 1B Robinson Cancel; 3B Dan Murphy; 2B Argenis Reyes.
  23. He's horrified that Daniel Noriega was voted off of American Idol last night and is now rooting for David Hernandez. He also got excited last night when Ryan Seacrest kept telling the guys to "take a stool."
