  1. If Axelrod wants everyone to root against the Mets because Steve isn't pure of heart or deed he ignores the fact that none of the owners got to be where they are by being a virgin. Steve is doing what every fan wants his owner to do. The difference is that Steve doesn't need the money and the Mets aren't his sole source of income.
  2. Hendriks is under contract for two more years. Reinsdorf is one of the owners that voted against Steve so I don't know if he wants to do business with the Mets but if he is willing, Vientos and Escobar should get it done... and they have to take McCann back (where he was successful but they'll want the Mets to eat some of his contract).
  3. There was Liam Hendriks talk yesterday. Martino suggests Vientos, Escobar, McCann for Hendriks. Martino also says Baty could move to LF.
  4. There was an online video where various Mets named a show that they were watching. The answers were predictable except for Ottavino who said: "The Rehearsal" and something like "I'm not sure if I understand it" which was the right perspective on that show.
  5. The Mets new bullpen coach. He's worked for Buck before and is someone for Buck to swap stories with over a swig. (He's my age, I thought he was 10 years older.) Click on the last link. He'll be the first one out of the bullpen during a fight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dom_Chitihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dom_Chiti https://twitter.com/EthanBriggs_88/status/1605284563546251264 https://brobible.com/sports/article/dom-chiti-suspended-angels-mariners-brawl/https://brobible.com/sports/article/dom-chiti-suspended-angels-mariners-brawl/
  6. Wayne RANDAZZO is on his way to Anaheim to be the TV voice of the Angels.
  7. Jim Bowden can bite me. He is the worst part of having an Athletic subscription. Whatever they are playing him is too much. Cohen isn't a "winner" simply because he has money. He's a winner because he is using his money to help his team win, unlike many of the pathetic owners that exist just to soak up the income that is distributed to every team no matter how much they put back into the team.
  8. I changed the title.
  9. I'm sorry to say that Wayne Randazzo is leaving the Mets' radio booth: https://www.newsday.com/sports/media/wayne-randazzo-mets-radio-wcbs-gk11iacchttps://www.newsday.com/sports/media/wayne-randazzo-mets-radio-wcbs-gk11iacc This article mentions an opening on Angels' TV. I guess that's good for low-pressure games with a limited audience. There is also an opening on the Cardinals' radio network and Wayne is a midwest guy.
  10. Seemed like a good guy. He becomes the highest-paid Athletic so he might be traded at the deadline. The Mets will see him in April.
  11. Ugh... my two favorites, Catch and 'Bach, are in the same corner of the bracket.
  12. Are cameras allowed at the Derby HQ Holiday Party?
  13. I thought that he sheds his beard in the off-season.
  14. Was great until he sucked big fat dongus against ATL in September and San Diego in October. So, you know, thanks and stuff, but also, not sad at all that he's pitching elsewhere in 2023. In comedy, if you have a bad set you "ate a dick on stage". Bassitt ate a big dick in the two biggest games of the season. He also let his former manager psych him out in G3 by having his players step out of the box to throw off his timing. Given how long he takes to throw a pitch, let's see how he does with the pitch clock. "Good luck against the MFYs and go F yourself."
  15. =Fman99 post_id=114404 time=1670599511 user_id=86] He seemed to pull the Mets' chestnuts out of the fire on many an occasion over the last two years. Underrated but important to have that swingman/long man/spot starter guy. I suspect that ultimately Magill or Peterson will end up in that role, or Joey Lucchesi perhaps, or someone not yet on the roster?
  16. Good guy, good pitcher but I guess that he wanted a real chance to start rather than being a swingman. Or maybe the pressure of playing in front of intelligent fans was too much as that won't be a problem in Washington. Or it was the pressure of winning because, again, that won't be a problem in Washington. Elieser Hernandez might be the long-RP/spot-starter in '23.
  17. The Mets wanted him from the Cubs at the deadline. He was the losing pitcher in this crazy game. IIRC, it was his 3d game in 3 days. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-phillies/2022/08/21/661602#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=wrap,game=661602https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-phillies/2022/08/21/661602#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=wrap,game=661602
  18. Fangraphs on Zach Greene: [bLOCKQUOTE]Greene sets up on the extreme first base side of the rubber and has an open stride down the mound, clearing his front side and enabling him to have a nearly perfect north/south arm slot from a drop-and-drive style delivery. It creates huge carry on his fastball and helps it blow past hitters at the letters even though it only sits 90-92. Greene's slider and changeup are both average, and his changeup seemed to take a significant step forward late in 2022. He looks like a three-pitch middle reliever.[/bLOCKQUOTE] https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2022-rule-5-draft-scouting-reports/https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-2022-rule-5-draft-scouting-reports/
  19. Tweets say that the Mets are still in on Senga.
  20. 33 years old. LHP. 2 years/$26M. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Quintanahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Quintana Instagram WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jose-quintana/11423/stats?position=Phttps://www.fangraphs.com/players/jose-quintana/11423/stats?position=P From "Pitcher List" (fantasy): 95. José Quintana (FA) – His command was insanely good as he embraced the BSB and went four-seamers up with curveballs down. This isn't something that will stick around for another season though…right? [bSB is the Blake Snell Blueprint which they define as throwing North-South in the strike zone] If he doesn't ring a bell, it's because the Mets haven't faced him since June 22, 2019: https://www.espn.com/mlb/game/_/gameId/401075883https://www.espn.com/mlb/game/_/gameId/401075883 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-top-50-free-agents/https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-top-50-free-agents/ Scroll to 26 where the author says that he was lucky last year.
  21. Jameson Taillon to the Cubs. 4/$68M. The Mets wanted him.
  22. True.
  23. Holding his ground as he tagged out Juan Soto on one of the funnier bad-baserunning plays of the year. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-nationals/2022/05/12/662548#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=662548https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-nationals/2022/05/12/662548#game_state=final,lock_state=final,game_tab=videos,game=662548
  24. He's a Phillie as they continue to collect ex-Met pitchers. Four years, $72M. I guess that the Mets weren't going to go for 4 years.
